when someone says that a suspect thinks they know who the murderer is, does this mean they suspect someone, or that they witnessed something?

"The ones that do know something can be misleading, they know or saw something but this may not be the gulilty person some times a person who's name you we'rnt given by a townie knows who the gulity person is"

In other words they are giving eyewitness evidence. Just keep in mind that you either need to have a false alibi or a second eyewitness in order to be certain you have the killer. Some of the suspects either lie, or are just wrong in thier observations.
