I see all of these different names for agencies out there on the website and i just wonder what inspired people to name the agency what they did. So if ur in an agency and u can share ur opinionn then please explain on what inspires a person to pick the name.

I had a good name, but I needed one more character. JUST ONE! "I Can't Believe It's Not Holmes" was the best name!.

Orbitrux and Jongy started the Underground. Originally the name was to be Under Ground (ie victims now taking their dirtnaps in the local cemetery) However when the agency was created it was spelled as one word instead of two which actually worked out better. Now it can donote just about anything from being mysterious and dark to the London tube system. ;D

Well, I started Behind Closed Doors, which was originally a place for directors of all agencies to meet for private conversations, not an active playing organization. But that use for the agency never really took off, so I decided to recruit for it, rather than let it go to waste. And I am very proud of the way those who are directing it now have succeeded, plus I still think the name is cool, though it no longer applies to the agency's special purpose.

And as far as Old Fogies with Stogies goes, I had some other names in mind but Murdox requested one that had "old fogies" in it, I guess because our intent was to take it easy and not have too many demanding agency policies, plus we were intending to recruit from people we already knew who had been around with us in The Underground but weren't playing much anymore, either, so mostly relatively "old" characters. We're not opposed to inquiries from those interested in joining, even if they are newer, but that was the original concept.

As for us...my hubby had wanted to join Sleuth. I use my real name but he didn't want to, so I suggested he call himself Dickie Tracy. The name caused giggles. <grin>

When Crazy Ideas couldn't survive, C.I. was reconstituted as D.T's.

As I often tell people, Dickie only thinks he runs the agency. I let him think that. <smiles>

(off topic) but I just want to say how greatful I am that Moon (altho it was her other detective) invited me to BCD. I learned alot from her, and I am completely honored to now be running it (along with Ms C) and am glad we could keep it running, and successful! *big hugs to the founder of BCD* You're still missed! ;)
