Does anyone have experience with the laser accupuncture to quit smoking?

There is a side of me that know she has to quit smoking, there is another side that LOVES smoking.

I am considering the laser therapy. However, what I fear is, that it will only get rid of the nicotene dependency, which I know I can beat. It is the psychological dependency on it that really drives me insane.

I have tried to quit smoking once before, but after 5 weeks fell off the wagon. Because I went insane. I did it cold turkey, now I realize I need some help.

Another question, if I do decide to go ahead. Are there any other avid smokers in here, that want to start a little quit smoking smoking group?

Good luck jstkdn. I wish you success in your effort. I know many who have tried and succeeded, but they all say that it is really hard.
I have never heard of the laser accupuncture, sounds interesting.

I quit several times - the last time succesfully - so I know you can do it!! Must share quote from Mark Twain (not the one about how easy it was to quit smoking, he knew because he had done it a hundred times...

Twain had quit smoking, and someone asked him if he would ever take it up again; he replied " I can't say, but I am certain that I'll never quit again!" Good luck!

You might also need to keep something between you fingers. Liquorice roots are really good cause you can bring them to your mouth and chew instead of inhealing (unless you hate liquorice)
Break a leg with the quitting.

Ugh, i share your pain jstkdn. I live in fear of cancer and yet I ADORE smoking. I've tried several times and have yet to beat The Nicotine Beast. What has worked best for me--enabled me to quit the longest, though obviously not forever yet--is the nicotine gum. Because smoking is about keeping my hands and mouth busy as much as the nicotine.

I haven't tried it, but supposedly Zyban helps with the psychological side. Has anyone tried that? I'm hesitant to use prescription drugs anymore than I have to (have kidney disease that requires a drug that has high risk of liver poisoning) so I'd like to hear about it before I try it...

Nicotine gums are handy but if you are a heavy smoker -like me- then you will probably have to chew many gums in a day and they are expensive. I know, it doesnt matter if you care your health but still...

Well, I have tried quitting smoking so many times but every time I failed. Maybe I didnt try hard, I dont know. What else I can say is that, if people around you -friends, companies etc.- smoke too, then it gets really hard to quit. Changing the places you hang out at and hanging out less with your friends who smoke might work but I know it doesnt sound easy either.

Excuse me if this post sounded too negative, I'm just saying it all according to my experience. I hope you can quit soon and then I would go like "hey someone else has just quit too, why wouldnt I?" Hope to hear the good news!

I'm sorry you're having a tough time in overcoming the desire to smoke, but if anyone can, it's you. Besides you've got all of us pulling for you. As the little train said, "I've gotta make it, I've gotta make it, I've gotta make it," Then the train made it to the top and vanished over the hill.....Choo --Choo---Choo, it went as it vanished out of sight...lol<<<< and those cigaretts will vanish from your mine. (Just a little added humor...lol. We lv ya kiddo.

We're very fortunate in Ireland as we now have the smoking ban in public places - that means no smoking in pubs, nightclubs, restaurants, shopping centres etc.

I'm really talking from a position of ignorance, being a non-smoker myself, but the ban was very controversial when it was first introduced but it has been embraced by the public. Scare stories of people simply ignoring the ban and the entertainment and hospitality industry being ruined simply haven't happened. The smokers that I know say it's now much easier to socialise without smoking and it's helping them in their efforts to quit. In my view, pubs are now nicer places here and I'm far more inclined to drop in to one to have a quick pint of the black.

Not that this really helps you in your efforts to quit, but it's just a little insight of what it's like living in a country where a smoking ban has been introduced.
