This is for those people that have seen some of their threads removed off the board, by several moderators.

You have not done anything wrong perse, but your introduction to this community I am sure you prefer to be good one, instead of annoying one. The thing is we have several newer detectives, whom are flooding our message boards. And all those people combined, annoy a lot of people. Not a single individual. Well unless you have created several detectives....

1. If you have no or little experience. Creating threads is not a good idea. This is a game site first.
2. If you create more threads then posts. Also not a good thing. It is a little sellfish.
3. If you create multiple threads in one day. Is also a bit much. Most people don't even create 1 thread a week.
4. The only way in which you know which threads are enjoyed by people, is if you have spent a little time in this community. Duplication or no value threads, or frowned up on.
5. Creating a lot of new threads. Post threads that are popular down the board, or threads from people others really like to see.
6. Post with a single detective on the message board. Everybody else does. It is very hard for us to get to know you, enjoy your company, or become friends with you....if you keep changing your name.
7. That new people create threads, is odd in itself. Please let us get to know you.

So my advise is. Play more games, create less threads.....come and say hi in some existing threads. Everybody is welcome in those, you'll see.

I hate for you to try to make friends, but unintentially make enemies. Some of us veterans have been posting in anger, have made fun of you, or ignored you. But I doubt few people directly spoke to you about it.

Welcome to this community. Join us, instead of asking us to join you. Once you are a bit more at home, there is plenty of chance to create new threads.

I agree with everything that Jstkdn has said.

For newer detectives who want to introduce themselves I suggest posting in the "Where y'all from" thread.
Or try answering a riddle in the riddle thread.
Or try and answer the questions in the "Daily Pub Quiz" or "Daily Vocabulary Quiz" threads.

By all means post questions about the game on the "Newbie Board", that is what it is there for.

All these threads are open to all and give you a chance to meet us and us a chance to meet you.

Perhaps it is a good idea, to either have an introduction thread in gumshoe, or a seperate place even where new ones can say hi.

I think most people regard the newbie board for some reason as a place where strictly questions about the games are posed.

It seems like it is the gumshoe lounge, what people view as the actual community *outside* of the game. Hmmm, I actually never thought about it. But this may be true. And that could also be the reason, why people are flooding gumshoe. Next to the reason being that these people don't seem to play much or even any games.

Maybe for some people introducing themselves in the Where are you from thread, or posting a riddle doesn't satisfy the need.

But maybe a "Join the welcome wagon" thread or something is an idea. The people that have been on longer can say hi there, making an introduction less awkward.

Thoughts?

Great idea. Start something new for our restless newbies that doesn't play, called "Just wanted to say..." or something.

Sorry . . . I clicked "Reply" too many times because my computer was not working fast enough. Please excuse the four multiple threads . . .
And, while we're at it, perhaps I can create a "Join the Welccome Wagon" thread, just like jstkdn requested. Well, sorry for the threads. Sorry, jstkdn!

I just posted a "Join the Welcome wagon." All Newbie detectives are welcome to share their biography.
