Could/should there be an easier way to get the contacts you want?

Sorry about this but I really need to vent my frustration on this subject and screaming into a pillow hasn't help nor has pulling the hair off my head - it only resulted in a mouth full of feathers and an oddly looking coiffure.

I just can't believe it has to be this hard to get the contacts one wants, and am beginning to wonder if there could be some way of making it easier??

I've currently quit around 50 favours for Non-PE-contacts in Shanghai - 20 in the past 7 days alone, and during those 7 days+ today was the FIRST day, the FIRST in over 7(!!) days, that the townsperson I'm looking for actually said yes to letting me do a favour for her, and what did I get?? Another HAT!!!!
I've been doing plenty of PE-favours as well as favours in others cities, so I just couldn't believe my eyes when she handed me that hat, I really was so sure this was going to be the day, but then again that's what I've been telling myself for days now only to be let down again and again and again.

I think it's okay that if one wants specific contacts, one will have to "suffer" a little bit, but I also think this is bordering on the ridiculous. Getting the necessary PE-contacts in the 3 new cities cost around 1/3 of what I've been quitting to get this one particular non-PE.
I could of course give in, but that would also mean having quit all those favours for nothing as well as a total waste of the exp., agency bonus, and money that I've had to turn my back on.

I'm not sure if a way around this could be created, but am wondering if maybe it would be possible to turn down an offer from a townsperson of becoming one's contact. That way, one would still lose out on the money, but wouldn't be hurting one's agency the way I've been doing when turning down favour offers from townies we've needed for hunt?? - just a suggestion from a desperate player.

Remington Steel and the mad one....those are names I haven't seen around for a while on the message boards. Am I wrong? Ever since Bryola left, I wanted to ask the mad one to be the new math wiz in sleuth. :) I actually had to buy a calculator. :)

Thanks for the complement jstkdn. I am still around, I've just made enough money from my patent for a potato and cod crossbreed (Instant fish and chips swimming in a tank) that I can hire my identical twin "sister" as a secretary.
Now if I could only stop thede wreded fids biding by dose id be haddy.

What my irritating sibling was trying to say was....
"... these wretched fish from biting my nose I'd be happy"

He is referring to his successful attempt to crossbreed flying fish, piranhas and poison arrow frogs. Last I heard he was banished to Delhi where there are fewer detectives for them to eat. He also needs time to fix the bolt through his neck.

Marcus, darling,

One more step than all those clones of you that you have running around:

Step 1: cloning

Step 2: Gender reassignment surgery

Let me state unequivocally that all Marcus's clones stopped at step one. We're not even really sure if they all have all their parts...but they're all males. :-)

My full sympathies on your contact troubles, Greyling. I got the barber as a contact in NY with little fuss, and somehow managed it again in London (with a little case-quitting). Shanghai took me a while longer (with rising frustration levels) - but who knows WHEN I'll manage to get the Delhi barber on my team!

As you might have guessed, I don't have the 'Advanced Hair Analysis' skill!

I'm also trying to get the Holy Man in Delhi - just for fun, really.

Thanks, and mine to you :)

And good luck getting your Delhi contacts, although I definitely wouldn't recommend going for 2 specific contacts in the same city just for the fun of it. Based on my ongoing struggles with the stage manager I have to say fun is the last word that come to mind - *lol*

But I absolutely agree with Remington Steel that if I had bothered to really do something about it all my contacts would have been women as flirting makes the men putty in my hands - but there have been other things to consider as well :)

Sorry for bringing this up again, but my frustration just got the better of me.

I have now quit over 100 favours in Shanghai trying to get the stage manager as my contact, and frankly it really really really doesn't make sense to me why it should be THIS hard!!??

Does quitting a favour affect the probability of getting a contact from another favour?

Are non-PE contacts harder to get if you quit favours to get them? Do they weigh more in the likelihood of gaining a contact bowl? - based on the fact that I only had to quit around 5 favours to get the PE-contact.

Or is it a bug? Can't help wondering since I have done several favours for the stage manager by now and not once has she agreed to become my contact.
