The case of the phantom suspect...

Yeah... basicaly I acepted a favor for the fortune teller. He indicated me a single suspect, but that was enough to start.

I interviewed her and as usually I first asked for her aliby, and if she suspected anyone else. She clammed up at that last question and I failed to sweet talk to her.

I left and went to verify the aliby of my only suspect, and after confirming I went back in order to try and get a deseperatly needed clue on this case. I needed more suspects, BADLY.

I went into her house, and to my surprise, she was dead, assasinated by someone.

So basicaly... I have a case...with no suspect whatsoever... kinda funny in a dark humorous way. Any hints on how to proceed on this besides quitting the case?

I am going to guess that you have probably quit the case by now. :) However....

Especially early on in a case like this it is possible to jump start your list by asking the non-PE townies if they know anything about the case (ie..fortune teller, butcher, waitress). If they give you a name it will appear on your suspect list, but you will still have to find a motive.

This is why most of us ask for motives first, at least until we get a decent list of suspects. :)

Hope that helps.

Actually I didn't quit. The fortune Teller gave me a name, and from there I worked the case and managed to solve it ^_^.

Btw, I'm playing a "smart" character (I find clues to be more reliable and less tempramental than witnesses if you catch my drift). Is it worth it to get all the smart skills?

The charm or Tough skills are important too. Even if you find all the evidence, you still have to run through a fair list with the townies. At higher levels they clam up like mad.

Yep, and as Awling implies, stick to the tough OR charming path for your interviewing skills, until you get all the levels you can of them. For toughness, this means Interrogation/Intimidation. For charming, this means Sweet Talking/Rule Bending.

Always ask motives first! (untill your list is complete)
