Sorry if this is an old question. Just solved my first case, but I don't feel like I really got the full story of what happened. It was the comfortable case of the indian puzzle (or something like that) and for example I have know idea why it was called that, and I guessed who did it based on probability not on a full understanding of what was going on.

In short, are there explanantions of what actually happened in each case somewhere?

There are so many cases floating around, and the names of the cases are generally not relevant.

The point of the game is not so much the story. The story is similar: someone got killed and asks you for help, a series of people with different trades are suspected, some have alibi's some don't, one is the killer. Repeatedly sometimes you get a bloody knife thrown at you, an ominous piece of paper, standing with a faction gets worse or improves, or you fall in love with someone.

So the story by itself is repetitive, and few of us would actually read it. Now the what you do have to read are the intro's particularly when they are written by a fellow sleuth. They put some hard work in to it. Still the story is irrelevant to solving the case.

This is a game not so much for the story sake. But solving who the murderer is by deducation in terms of what they look like, if they are left or right handed etc.

In short, there is no explanation somewhere as to what happened.

However, the featured mysteries. That is a different story, in those, the story is VERY relevant and this is why those are so fun to play. Also these are the fruit of the labour of a fellow sleuth.

Yep, except for featured mysteries, the cases we solve are randomly pieced together, and the stories have nothing to do with the randomly generated titles. You'll get to know the stories so well you won't read them, but as jstkdn says, the intros vary more, and many of them were submitted by your fellow players. As far as solving goes, you will also learn what matters in determining the guilty culprit for sure, which is a combination of evidence and alibi information, for the most part.

I think it is very interesting the Jstkdn, that you say "The story is similar: someone got killed and asks you for help," I didn't know dead people could ask for help! :)
