a little idea re: unwanted skills

I noticed that a number of people are quite "pissed off" that they got skills that have turned out to be useless, a total waste of points. Perhaps there can be some sort of "Skills Marketplace"? Or perhaps a chance to trade skills with the Shady Character or Larry the Toe? This way people who discover they have no use for certain skills can put them up for sale at the said Marketplace, then others who may need or just want that skill can buy it. Special skills may only be sold to those who do not have negative points with the pertinent organanization.

Of course, the selling price should be less than the original cost (& the Shady Character or Larry the Toe can make a profit of a point or two), but at least the seller can gain back some of those hard-earned points.

For example, a Detective may sell Lock Picking or Flirting or Safe Cracking. Another Detective may already be at a stage when s/he needs any or all of those. Could be sold for 6, 2 & 5 respectively (or for some cash), and the Shady Character or Larry the Toe could pass it on for a little more.

While I am sure that eventually there will be more points than what a Detective would know what to do with, it would be nice if a Detective can regain some points at a time when it is needed most. This may lead to less early retirees, which is less cumbersome for players and might (just might) lessen their having to cook up uncouth name :-)

apart from making it too easy and taking the element of planning out of the game, I think it's also very not logical to sell skills. skills are not items! they r things u have learned. In real life u also learn things u cant immidiatly use. You cant unlearn something.

I agree that the game should not be made easier in order to maintain the challenge. However, though you cannot unlearn something in real life, one can always sell or teach a skill in order to make a living :-)

Funny though, Ace does not actually have a prob with the skills he got. I guess he posted it on behalf of our friends who grumbled a lot about their unwanted skills. He posted a basic newbie guide for newbie slike us so I guess that's as easy as we can all make it :-)

I think having unwanted skills is something we all went through. I think few are an exception. No matter how well planned out it was. I mean, most of the time your second physical evidence contact shows up by the time you already have bought a few smart skills. I would certainly not want to buy a footprint skill instead of a handwriting skill, if I get the shoemaker the next day. Chances are that you do.

It is nice for Ace to post this for his friends.

What I noticed in most threads about making the game easier or harder. People tend to be against it. They like the game just as it is. And that is actually a compliment to Ben. So we are doing well.
