Hello everyone. It's been some time since we've had a game of Resistance, so I'll be hosting one (without story) for everyone to enjoy. If you've never played before, feel free to jump right into the world of uncertainty and lies. I promise lots of fun. :)

The game takes place over a series of 5 "missions." The Resistance is trying to complete 3 missions successfully, while the spies are attempting to sabotage 3 missions. First one to 3 wins.

I will serve as game master. Once we get enough people to play (5-10 total), I will PM everyone their allegiance (either "Resistance" or "Spy"). If you are a "Spy," I will also PM you the names of your co-conspirators.

A "leader" will be chosen at random for the first mission. The leader has 2 important functions:
1) The leader will assign various "role" abilities to players. These are one-shot special powers a player can use to learn more information about someone.
2) The leader will assign players to the "team" for that mission.

Missions will have a varying number of players who are selected; the leader picks a team, then every player will vote on whether or not they approve the team by PMing me. Once all the votes are cast, I will post the voting results. If a majority approves the team, the mission starts. If not, the mission does not start, and the next player in line becomes the new "leader" for that round. This continues until either a mission is approved, or 5 consecutive mission teams are rejected (in which case the spies win automatically.)

Once a mission team is approved, those players will PM me their choice of action during that mission. Resistance players will ALWAYS choose to have the mission succeed by sending "Success," while spies have a choice: they can either elect to have the mission succeed (to throw off suspicion), or they can "Sabotage" the mission.

The power cards will reveal all, Yeti, and we'll be done with this ridiculous little spy game. I hope you get some good ones Lou.

I still don't see any real reason that Devi can be a spy. If anyone sabotaged mission #1 it was either Yeti or Bela. And if Devi is a spy, why would she choose other spies to go on the mission with her? It doesn't make sense.

We're not going to gain any clarity if we start believing random things that are being said on the board.

I'm sorry, why can't Devi be a spy? I thought you were against posts with reasons that don't make sense?

If Devi and Sindy are spies, which seems likely right now, then she selected two resistance members in Bela and I. She could sabotage Mission 1, then Bela had the misfortune of choosing Sindy to reveal herself to who then lies about Bela's allegiance to "clear" Devi. Based on the limited information we have that's the best conclusion right now, and certainly what I'll be going on.

But then if you're one of them, which also seems likely, you know all that all ready and this is just a shallow attempt to protect your fellow spies.

Here's what doesn't make sense to me right now and what completely went over my head much earlier in the game:

"ESTABLISHING CONFIDENCE" is one of the most dangerous cards in the game for spies. For if it is given to a spy, they have to either reveal themselves to a fellow spy, thus linking themselves to the spy with both of them being uncovered if only one of them is suspected. Their other option is to reveal themselves to a Resistance member, who will obviously say that they are a spy. Thus this card is the one that spies try their best to avoid during the game.

But Bela wasn't assigned the card, and she wasn't obliged to use it. As a spy, she would have seen the danger to her status posed by the card, and she would have passed it on to a Resistance member. What that person does with the card stops being the problem of the spies, and Bela (as spy) would gain the confidence of that member by giving them the card.

And yet Bela chose to keep the card, and to use it to reveal herself to Sindy. Now why would she do that, and have herself uncovered as a possible spy, if she knew Sindy to be Resistance?

Bela could have easily passed that card on to someone else. And she didn't.

I would like to give the go-ahead for the picked team, because I think it might be a clean one (other than Sindy, of course). I'm still not sure if Bela said she would use the card on Sindy in such a case, though. This could be an easy win for the Resistance.

Because that's what spies do, Cathy. They spread misinformation and cast the net of suspicion as broad as possible to limit their chance of being caught.

Doing the unexpected thing is the best way to do that.

If Bela had given the card to one of her fellow spies and later one of them was outed by someone else as a spy, then both spies would be outed. But if she gives the card to a resistance member who outs her as a spy, then yes, she casts suspicion on herself, but she also casts suspicion on the person she gave the card to. How dangerous did this card turn out to be to Bela here? When I said, Bela is a spy, did anyone believe me? Quite the opposite.

I don't know if you perverted the truth deliberately or whether you've misunderstood, but to clear things up; ESTABLISH CONFIDENCE reveals the leader's identity (so Bela's).

Quite honestly, I'm so flustered about this whole mess that I honestly don't remember anymore what I did to get myself into it.

Who I think are Resistance so far (in order of discovery):

Lou. Devi. Autumn. Bela.

Who I think are the Imperial Spies:

Yeti. Jintan. Sindy.

I hope I'm not wrong, but if this isn't true then nothing makes sense anymore.
