Proposed solution to the writing limit dilemma

So it looks like some of those who received PMs regarding the proposed fix haven't forwarded it to their teammates.
In the interest on everyone having the same information I'm sharing it here. Riza wants to know if we go through with this plan or handle it a different way. First, her message:

"So here's the plan. I'm going to survey all the teams. If at least 3 of them say they are willing to revise and resubmit their pieces, then we'll scrap the original entries and use the new ones. Except this time, there will be explicitly stated word limits and content guidelines. And I will be running it."

Here are my thoughts:

The proposed "fix" of a rewrite is no fix at all.
the contestants all put a LOT of work into their submissions. we shouldn't have to do that work over again, while trying to do this week's events as well.

Here's my suggestion:

Maybe those who were within the stated limit should be given the chance to submit their ORIGINAL entries (as long as it's under 5000 characters and those who went over shouldn't.

That way, the event would count so the work put into them wouldn't be disregarded.

Those who wrote according to the stated rules wouldn't have to do a complete rewrite. And those who went over wouldn't be penalized.

If three teams agree to Riza's suggestion, it will be implemented. If at least three teams do not vote yes, I hope they will implement my suggestion. It seems the most fair way to deal with this.

I am getting to get at play two teams to vote no.

Badass I'm so glad you called it that! I've been calling it a s**tfest of a clusterf**k.

However, you're wrong about our agency not agreeing. We all agree that the way I unreported Riza's message (which was incorrect btw) was not the solution.
I posted this thread to discuss other possible solutions. My teammates simply suggested other solutions than I did. That's not disagreement. It's discussion which was the entire point of this post.
To discuss the merits and pitfalls of each proposed solution.

And "the poster of this thread and her agency"?

I'm Autumnsprings, Autumn, or Amber. And my agency is Rick's. Although my problem is more with the way you referred to me than to my agency. We've spoken enough on the boards and through PMs you can call me Autumn. ;)

And sorry Rick's for not calling you Rick's.

Was that a judgemental whale, Molly? :))

Listen, I spent enough time writing that RP and going over it and over it and over it, that I do want it to get scored. I agree with.. it's on the other page and I read it earlier so can't remember who it was .. that I would feel like it was a total slap on the face for it to be tossed to the trash because we were given different rules or because said rules weren't made public following the first addressed question.

I'm not sure what the best option is, but I don't want our work to just get dumped.

What I am going to say is that it shouldn't really have been part of the Olympics in the first place. As fun as this all has been, giving creative tasks will only lead to a lot of fighting on the boards. Now the issues are with the way it was all organized, but wait until we get the scoring. Handing out scores for creative writing is subjective and therefore will cause issues among the players. It's not straightforward as to who collected what items and so on and there's plenty of room for interpretation.

Score all the work, but give those who stayed within the limits some bonus points to account for the potential disadvantage in using less words.

I think there was some misinterpretation about what Sultry and I meant to say - Yes, we want all the stories to be scored, however, we don't want those scores to be added to the total amount of points each team has gained.

This way, we can ensure that the teams stay on the same points as they were and that everyone still has a fair shot at winning the Olympics.

Also, it would still give you the satisfaction and recognition you all so desperately crave for after putting all that hard work into your wonderful RP's :)

Again, I understand this isn't THE best solution out there, but I get the feeling we're moving into circles here...
