So it looks like some of those who received PMs regarding the proposed fix haven't forwarded it to their teammates.
In the interest on everyone having the same information I'm sharing it here. Riza wants to know if we go through with this plan or handle it a different way. First, her message:

"So here's the plan. I'm going to survey all the teams. If at least 3 of them say they are willing to revise and resubmit their pieces, then we'll scrap the original entries and use the new ones. Except this time, there will be explicitly stated word limits and content guidelines. And I will be running it."

Here are my thoughts:

The proposed "fix" of a rewrite is no fix at all.
the contestants all put a LOT of work into their submissions. we shouldn't have to do that work over again, while trying to do this week's events as well.

Here's my suggestion:

Maybe those who were within the stated limit should be given the chance to submit their ORIGINAL entries (as long as it's under 5000 characters and those who went over shouldn't.

That way, the event would count so the work put into them wouldn't be disregarded.

Those who wrote according to the stated rules wouldn't have to do a complete rewrite. And those who went over wouldn't be penalized.

If three teams agree to Riza's suggestion, it will be implemented. If at least three teams do not vote yes, I hope they will implement my suggestion. It seems the most fair way to deal with this.

I am getting to get at play two teams to vote no.

As a bystander (and fellow RP-er), I think that Miss De Mon's solution might be the best. While everyone enjoyed writing an RP, I don't think it's wise to spend more time on "adjusting" some RP's. The Olympics are due to end in the upcoming week and it might be best if this isn't scored / counted on the final results.

However, I do hope the judges will still consider giving feedback on each story, about what they liked and disliked :)

Anyway, whatever solution is chosen, let's hope it's to the benefit of all the involved people :)

Personally I agree with Sultry’s proposal and, as Vulkie mentions, the timing is too close to the end of the competition to revamp our RP submissions and complete our intros to our satisfaction. I know that some agencies will want to keep their RP as part of the competition and have the points count and I’m ok with that too. It’s up to the Olympic judges to decide but either way feedback would be appreciated.

I feel bad for those who spent a lot of time writing this essay to see it not being rated at all. I also feel bad for those who finally would like these games see to come to an end. Now, 5,000 characters seems a bit lengthy for the judges to examine in such short notice of time.

My true opinion is that writing and role playing deserve a contest of their own and should not have been included so heavily into these games. But that's just me and a bit irrelevant in this clusterf***k we are facing now.

My proposal is that the limit for the essays should be at 3,000 characters (same as the intros). If the writers would like to rewrite their work it's up to them. If they want to keep it the way it is that's also fine.

Coming as a whole agency with one vote seems another issue as the poster of this thread and her agency don't seem to be in agreement here.

At the end of the day, Breit and now Riza are the authority in this game. I think every time an undertaking of a new game or contest is taken in Sleuth there is always hiccups to be worked out and its a good learning experience for next time.

We all understand that it can be confusing or frustrating but even more voices chiming in saying we should do this and we should do that, squabbling with each other, stirring drama etc only adds to the fray, frustrates the people who dedicated their time to putting this together, frustrates the players who worked hard and unfortunately the drama reinforces the reason that so many Sleuth vets have thrown up their hands and left this game altogether.

Your notes are as always appreciated for next time I'm sure, and even doubly appreciated if you yourselves want to personally undertake this mammoth of a project. All I'm asking is that you show some respect and understanding to the organizers and the judges who worked hard to make a community event for you. Sometimes we all have to deal with the good, the bad, and the ugly. Not everything is going to be a ballpark smash-it like that last game of Resistance. *blows smoke off imaginary finger pistol*

I don't see why it would be difficult for those who went over limit to cut bits out and resubmit personally?

I've talked to everyone in our agency and we have all agreed no matter what happens we will not be changing our RP. CodeRed worked bloody hard on it and she did a good job and we stand by her so whatever happens ours will stay the same. We didn't go over the limit anyway so no issue for us really.

That being said I think it would be completely unfair for all those who did the writing to not get any recognition for it. Not everyone enjoys writing so it's a bit of a kick in the face to be told 'well thanks for doing that but it doesn't count' so personally I think regardless they need to be judged.

For what it's worth I've loved chatting to new people and getting reacquainted with old faces so from that aspect this contest has been fab....I just wish it had been a tad more relaxed and easy going :)

Badass I'm so glad you called it that! I've been calling it a s**tfest of a clusterf**k.

However, you're wrong about our agency not agreeing. We all agree that the way I unreported Riza's message (which was incorrect btw) was not the solution.
I posted this thread to discuss other possible solutions. My teammates simply suggested other solutions than I did. That's not disagreement. It's discussion which was the entire point of this post.
To discuss the merits and pitfalls of each proposed solution.

And "the poster of this thread and her agency"?

I'm Autumnsprings, Autumn, or Amber. And my agency is Rick's. Although my problem is more with the way you referred to me than to my agency. We've spoken enough on the boards and through PMs you can call me Autumn. ;)
