One of the most prominent yet elusive people of Sleuthville, the legendary Big Lucy herself, is hitting a new milestone in life. While none are bold enough to inquire her age, rumors say this is a momentous occasion. The guest list is comprised of the most prominent and affluent people in Sleuthville and beyond.

However, some of Sleuthville's own working class have been invited-- not as guests, but as special operatives to patrol the event. They have been selected for their swiftness, skill, and intelligence. They will be entrusted with making sure that Big Lucy's Birthday Bash goes off without a hitch. But, as always, there are those who would rather see the event go down in flames.

A mere three minutes before the event is scheduled to start, the operatives are informed of an alarming development. There has been a breach within the ranks, and a number of spies have infiltrated the group! Having never seen each others' faces, there is no way to discern whose allegiance is true. The team has been compromised, but there is still a chance to save the evening.

The operatives' job this evening is to make sure Big Lucy's birthday celebration goes off without a hitch. If she is pleased at the end of the night, it is almost guaranteed that they will lead easy lives from thereon out. Whispers say Big Lucy may be more forgiving on her big day, but even she has her limits...

Will Big Lucy's birthday bash be a huge success, or will it succumb to the sabotage of the spies? Stay tuned to find out in this installment of The Resistance.

Can Justin choose to hold the card? or is it now or never?

It makes sense to use it now anyway, if you're going to use it, as the next mission requires two sabotage votes. So even if we add a spy to the team, so long as these four are solid we still win.

Good point. I forget about needing the two sabotages.

Ah jeez, deep apologies everyone! I must have fog in the brain! I thought I have already voted and it was the Mission 3 teams members' turn to vote Sucess / Sabotage.

Advice to men out there, if your other half is going through / under gone a frustrating surgical procedure, don't suddenly go and book a weekend holiday with the family. I had to suddenly change my child's weekend plans (must say I'm quite an organized mom and our kid has a happy balanced schedule with play dates, summer camps and other activities well spaced out). After the surgery on Thursday noon (which the doctor successfully took out a huge cyst plus something extra, which is currently being analyzed in the lab) I went home to pack, finished up my freelance work, and called up all the centers to reschedule my son's activities. Friday morning I took my son to the beach with his friends as promised ages ago and then hurried off to the airport. I am now sitting in a hotel room in Thailand with my two "boys" (including my hubby) sleeping soundly next to me, but I don't feel that I'm on a holiday at all. Rant over. Deep apologies for that as well.

Thanks Announcer for taking over. I would've voted Yes anyhow. This will not happen again. I was checking in everyday, but somehow I thought it was a mission team success/sabotage vote we were waiting for. Can't blame the antibiotics though. My bad.

Oops, in my fogged up brain I blurted out my current location, which is actually just two hours by plane from where we reside. It is not a big trip, just a weekend getaway.

Mission 3 Result:

A flame licked the corner of Big Lucy's dress. Marc grabbed a glass of water and put it out. That was when those at the table realized what was happening. Keira quickly ushered Big Lucy and the rest of her table away from the scene.

There was a large orange streak as Justin and Marc up-ended the table with a clatter. Devi and Keira dexterously ripped the tablecloths out from under the surrounding tables without displacing any of the dinnerware. Soon, the flames had been smothered and stomped to oblivion.

The table was removed and replaced. Dinner continued as though nothing had happened, though truthfully the guests knew better than to say anything. The only remnant of the situation was the distinct smell of charred cherry wood drifting through the space.

Mission 3 consisting of Marc, Keira, Justin, and Devi was a SUCCESS.

The team members voted as follows:
???? SUCCESS
???? SUCCESS
???? SUCCESS
???? SUCCESS

Keira, leadership will now pass to you for the next mission.

Mission 4: Dancefloor Disaster

After dinner, Big Lucy's guests were welcomed to the ballroom to partake in a dance. They trickled through the door into the ornate ballroom, decorated lavishly in deep purple and gold. The lights were dimmed.

Carmen's Habanera filled the room and couples took to the dance floor. Big Lucy could be seen in the middle with her second-in-command Bruno, whose face seemed to be redder than usual. Others stood off to the side watching and speaking in hushed tones.

For about fifteen minutes, nothing happened. A resounding crack echoed throughout the chamber, followed by a several screams. Keira Ann, on the dancefloor herself with a dashing gentleman, was the first to see what had happened. The spot where Big Lucy stood just moments earlier no longer existed.

Big Lucy dangled precariously over an enormous black hole in the ground, only safe because Bruno had grabbed her arm immediately. However, the floor around him was beginning to crumble as well, and others hesitated to come to the rescue for fear that they would fall. Keira, unafraid, gestured for the team members closest to her to give her a hand.

Mission 4 will consist of FIVE team members.

Keira, the team leader, has been given three advantages to distribute to whomever she sees fit. They are:

OVERHEARD CONVERSATION: Owner of this card learns the allegiance of either the player above/below him/her on the player list via PM from the game master. (They player may share this information on the game board if they so wish, but are not required to tell the truth.)

KEEPING A CLOSE EYE ON YOU - Receiver of this card may look at one team member's action (Success/Sabotage) on a mission they are on, after the results of the mission are in.

NO CONFIDENCE: Receiver of this card can veto a successful vote on a mission proposal, causing it to fail and forcing leadership to move to the next player on the list.

Keira, please assign these abilities when you're ready.

Sorry about not using my card. I was at work and couldn't check in on the game to see if I could hold it or not. Onto the next mission and success for the Resistance!

That extra something they extracted sounds positively delightful, Joseph. Hopefully whatever it is will be the key to unlocking your innate super powers.

Did your husband book the trip with you in mind? As in "My wife has just had an operation, so let's book a weekend away to take her mind off things", so a misguided attempt at being thoughtful?

I think it's fair guess to say Keira's going to propose a team of herself, Joseph, Helen, Sal, and Sindy.
