In just under six weeks, the 31st Summer Olympics and the 15th Paralympics will occur in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Athletes from over 190 countries around the world will gather to compete in some 35 different overall sports over a period of about 3 weeks.

Many people have commented recently that they would like to see some more activities taking place here on Sleuth. A few of us creatively evil types were wondering if we put together a series of activities for people, would y'all be interested??

We are looking for at least 8-12 people, of all experience levels; both hunters (treasure, casework, and Arch Villain) and writers will be needed. People will be competing in a team format. We're probably looking at Subbed players for now, but we're working on having at least two activities (not necessarily part of the teams, but supplemental to them) that will be exclusive to UNSUBBED players. All of these activities will have an Olympics theme.

So. Any takers?? ;-)

Please let us know below.

Thank you!!

Well, with 4x4 AVH you'd have all members participate in the same event. And while you're waiting for your team mate you could still work on a scavenger hunt or collect as many certificates of merit or something.

That could be another contest; to collect special shoes you can get in Cairo.

I agree with what BadAss has suggested, concentrate on VH, TH and Scavenger Hunts.
Ditch writing altogether, have that in another competition.

I agree with everyone above has said. I really enjoyed the scavenger hunts, AVH and TH. The only suggestion would be not to have the score based on time of day they were completed. We all have different schedules and/or time zones. It should be scored based on the day finished. If both teams A and B finish on Monday, then they should get the same scores.

I enjoyed the haikus but disliked the rest of the writing. It was too much. Maybe a different contest for writing for those who enjoy it.

Overall, I had a great time and met some new people!

One thing I have suggested to breit, is to have a whole games, or a section of the games, where people could compete for their actual native / adopted country of origin. So there'd be a VH section and I'd compete for Australia, Ms Helen would compete for GB and Badass might compete for the US (adopted) or 'insert appropriate European Country of origin here...' Sure in some events US might get gold, silver and bronze, by weight of numbers, but that's all very Olmpiccy too.

It might give people who don't want to commit to a whole 6 weeks or so, an opportunity to join in for an event or two. Andd give you leeway for those writing comp's, which are almost 'specialty' comp's.

excellent idea with the countries competing to each other. We get to know ourselves better that way.
Also, speculate to the maximum the options Sleuth is offering for sleuthing and include as many events as possible of finding (pages, plans, shoes, etc).
If all players in a team have already started a nemesis, or even if not, an event for the Olympics could be - get as many clues as possible as a team for nemesis hunts- that way everybody can start this nemmy thing and experience the thrill of travelling and getting those clues.
Or, get treasure hunts for factions, in a specific order. Play with all options Sleuth has to offer.
And leave writing for a writing contest - there you have another idea for a contest on Sleuth (best biography written for an adversary, writings from the killer point of view, etc).

I think given the small player base doing it by country would defeat the feeling of having an overall team, as some people would be literally the only people from their country competing. It'd also be a pain for the relay events. Maybe you'd have to slap some of the lesser represented countries into groups?

I have dual citizenship (Belgian/American) and I was born in Romania so with a bit of a stretch I could represent Romania as well. Paired with Devi and Mortimer we'd have a Romanian team. Especially if we make Murray Arty honorary Romanian :)

I like the idea of representing countries but we don't have the numbers like in the good old days. We could always let players choose which country they would like to represent of course. If three Americans and an Australian would like to be the Mongolian Olympic team, why not?

I was more thinking of people not being in agencies as in the previous format. So there would be just a section for standalone players wanting to represent a country. Teams are great and they worked so well, and it should definitely be done again, but my idea is more a individual / lone wolf thing.

You don't need to be in an agency to be in a team. You might be competing by yourself, but as soon as you apply a person's country to the competition they are in a wider team.
