In just under six weeks, the 31st Summer Olympics and the 15th Paralympics will occur in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Athletes from over 190 countries around the world will gather to compete in some 35 different overall sports over a period of about 3 weeks.

Many people have commented recently that they would like to see some more activities taking place here on Sleuth. A few of us creatively evil types were wondering if we put together a series of activities for people, would y'all be interested??

We are looking for at least 8-12 people, of all experience levels; both hunters (treasure, casework, and Arch Villain) and writers will be needed. People will be competing in a team format. We're probably looking at Subbed players for now, but we're working on having at least two activities (not necessarily part of the teams, but supplemental to them) that will be exclusive to UNSUBBED players. All of these activities will have an Olympics theme.

So. Any takers?? ;-)

Please let us know below.

Thank you!!
Breit

Man, I wish I got a title like you guys - ah well, I'll just have to suffice with my honorary title of "Ice cream sales woman of the year" :)

I've got a couple questions for everyone. ;-)

What events and activities in the Olympics did you like?? What EVENTS/ACTIVITIES would you like to see in the next Olympics (ie. -- a cheerleading competition, a cocktail creation competition, etc. ;-)??

I'm looking for feedback about things people liked in these games, and what they would like to see in the next games. Any suggestions you guys can give me I would *REALLY* appreciate.

I've gotten a number of messages from people expressing their enjoyment in participating in these Olympics. I'm glad all of you had a good time. Again, I'd like to thank all of you (including the Judges and Riza and Squirrel, my Evil Associates ;-), for joining in. You all did a great job!! ;-D

Thanks again, and I look forward to reading your comments!! ;-)

P.S.--If, for some reason, you are too shy to post a comment here on the boards, please feel free to PM me. I'll be happy to chat with you. Thank you. B. ;-)

I would like to see 4x4 AVH relay, I would keep the scavenger and treasure hunts as well.

The haiku contest was fun but the amount of writing contests I would like to see trimmed a bit. Or a lot actually.

Definitely NOT a cheerleading competition.

:-( You didn't like the cheers?

I'm in agreement with BadAss on the writing. The haiku contest was fun and easy enough for everyone to try their hand at it. Also, I wasn't a big fan of the agency judging. Once again it came down to the amount of writing and content in each agency. Also it is very subjective. Plus not every member may participate frequently on the boards, but may discuss ideas through P.M.'s and or private chat groups.

I liked the idea of the Intro's and twist/closure, and that they will be featured in the game.
Maybe give out the criteria for those at the very beginning of the Olympics and have them due during the last week. But I would suggest one or the other, not both.

4x4 AVH sounds like a great idea.

The downside to an AVH relay is - what are the other team members going to be doing while the other three team members are doing their portion of the AVH? I would prefer to have all four team members doing their AVHs at the same time.

That was something that I think was a negative in the Olympics just held. We were put in a team with people we didn't really know (or at least some of us were) and then we were immediately split up to work on two separate activities. I think it's an important jump start to the building of a team spirit for everyone to be working on the same task as a team right out of the gate.

Liked the scavenger hunts, treasure hunts (although not the scoring system so much) and the AVH's. Liked having some writing contests, but thought there were too many and too much emphasis placed on them. Also agree with Sultry, maybe they should be due during the last week.

Also agree with Sultry on the agency judging. In our agency we communicated a lot through PMs. Websites: Creating a website was a lot of fun, but it is also very time consuming - a commodity not everyone has. I think websites should be more of an "extra" if an agency wants to create one.

Well, with 4x4 AVH you'd have all members participate in the same event. And while you're waiting for your team mate you could still work on a scavenger hunt or collect as many certificates of merit or something.

That could be another contest; to collect special shoes you can get in Cairo.

I agree with what BadAss has suggested, concentrate on VH, TH and Scavenger Hunts.
Ditch writing altogether, have that in another competition.

I agree with everyone above has said. I really enjoyed the scavenger hunts, AVH and TH. The only suggestion would be not to have the score based on time of day they were completed. We all have different schedules and/or time zones. It should be scored based on the day finished. If both teams A and B finish on Monday, then they should get the same scores.

I enjoyed the haikus but disliked the rest of the writing. It was too much. Maybe a different contest for writing for those who enjoy it.

Overall, I had a great time and met some new people!

One thing I have suggested to breit, is to have a whole games, or a section of the games, where people could compete for their actual native / adopted country of origin. So there'd be a VH section and I'd compete for Australia, Ms Helen would compete for GB and Badass might compete for the US (adopted) or 'insert appropriate European Country of origin here...' Sure in some events US might get gold, silver and bronze, by weight of numbers, but that's all very Olmpiccy too.

It might give people who don't want to commit to a whole 6 weeks or so, an opportunity to join in for an event or two. Andd give you leeway for those writing comp's, which are almost 'specialty' comp's.
