In just under six weeks, the 31st Summer Olympics and the 15th Paralympics will occur in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Athletes from over 190 countries around the world will gather to compete in some 35 different overall sports over a period of about 3 weeks.

Many people have commented recently that they would like to see some more activities taking place here on Sleuth. A few of us creatively evil types were wondering if we put together a series of activities for people, would y'all be interested??

We are looking for at least 8-12 people, of all experience levels; both hunters (treasure, casework, and Arch Villain) and writers will be needed. People will be competing in a team format. We're probably looking at Subbed players for now, but we're working on having at least two activities (not necessarily part of the teams, but supplemental to them) that will be exclusive to UNSUBBED players. All of these activities will have an Olympics theme.

So. Any takers?? ;-)

Please let us know below.

Thank you!!
Breit

MCCOY….....REALLY? REALLY!!!
I have a feeling you have just entered a running competition. You better run for your life!

Breit: I can only speak for my team, but have a feeling the others will agree. Since the Olympics are sports based, we had trouble making the connection of how rowing (or other sports) had anything to do with playing sleuth. We were taking the path that the Olympics discussions would be based on the competitions and events we would be participating in. So yes ,we had a little misunderstanding of what was expected.

I agree with Sultry. I was under the impression it was going to be inspired by the Olympics, but based on sleuth. It was not made clear that there needed to be a strong connection to the actual Olympics. Honestly, very little was made clear. There was confusion about how teams would be formed, how the logos and such would come into play, and what types of events would be held.

Not to mention we only had a week to get our regular agencies ready for an extended absence, get together with our team to brainstorm (BEFORE forming an agency, mind you, so that was a right pain in the ass), form the agency, create a website, and be creative with the space (with little guidance.)

I really think the fact that ALL the agencies fell short on that mark indicates the problem wasn't on our end. (If a student fails a test, the student failed. If an entire class fails a test, the problem is probably with the teacher.)

I'm having fun, and looking forward to these events, and I'm grateful to you, your helpers, and the judges for doing it. I just hope that in the future, expectations are set a little more clearly.

Re-reading my post, I want to make something clear.

I am NOT blaming Breitkat or anyone else for not making things clear. I realize now it sounded that way. That was not my intention and I apologize if I offended anyone.

My intention was simply to explain how things seemed from a competitor's perspective. This is the first time we've had this event. There is always confusion the first time anything is done. And this event is much larger than other events we've had. The only thing I can think of that comes close is the AVH tourney.

This is a huge, complicated event that is being held for the first time and it was put together very quickly. The next time, people will have a better understanding of expectations and things will probably be much closer to the expectations of Breit and the judges.

Again, sorry for being unclear (yes, I'm aware of the irony, lol). I'm going to blame lack of sleep, stress, and health for it.

Finally, one last big THANK YOU to Breit, Squirrel, the Mother of Dragons and everyone who has helped behind the scenes. I look forward to playing not only in this Olympics, but in future ones!!

Hi Autumn - One other point. This Sleuth Olympics is creating a model for what the next ones will (and will not) have. If you read up on the modern athletic games, it took four or five times before people (and countries) worked out how they wanted the games to do and to run. Even once the model had been set up, there was still confusion and sticking points for many more years (witness Jim Thorpe). So thank you to all who are trying to create the model, athletes remember it's just a game, and everyone else, relax and enjoy the efforts of those who have tried to provide the entertainment you are looking at. Please. L

Luc, very good point! That was what I was trying to get across more than criticism. I'm enjoying the challenge this is providing. I'm just a control freak. I'm sure my teammates will chime in on that one, lol!

Badass, don't you have a team you should be helping? ;)
