I've started work on the next update for Sleuth, and as promised it's going to be a content update. However, it's going to take a while before any of you see it, at least two months, potentially far longer than that.

Now I would hate to leave you all in the Sleuth wilderness, totally devoid of changes, so every one to two weeks I'll create an update from the suggestions you give here. An example of a small update (from the desk of Bela Talbot III) would be including your most recent fortune telling in the case file so long as you haven't discovered any new suspects since then.

Whilst this is going on I'll also fix up the small bugs lying around the game. For example, there's a certain accessory devouring fox that needs reining in, and possibly relocating. So don't worry about suggesting bug fixes here. Keep it to small things you'd like to see, or small annoyances you'd like changed.

Sleuthatania:

The ability to rent a locker while you're on board. I always go off half-cocked and forget to change gear before I board, so I end up on board with no smart gear. If I could rent a cabin/locker while I was on board so I had the option to stow some of my gear and utilize any useful gear that I'm rewarded from doing favors that would be great.

And of course, I realize the easier option is just to remember to change gear before I get on board in the first place... :P

I know there's been opposition to the idea in the past, but I think there needs to be some kind of way for players to carry extra equipment around the world with them. A suitcase for example that can only be used to change in a hotel.

Whilst I think a carry slot(s) of some kind would be great when used for more interesting things, I wouldn't want to say negate the usefulness of charm / smarts, tough / smarts, charm/tough/smarts gear that is out there. If you could carry around your smarts gear with you, or your tough gear with you, what would the point be of having the balanced gear? That usefulness is already negated in two out of 5 cities (+1 boat) if you have your apartment in another city. So one of the last remaining challenges left in Noir is to be prepared for where you are or where you are going. (some players would say maxed out tough or charm gear, combined with Yeti's excellent case solver, far surpasses the challenges of AI cases anyway) There are lots of fun things we could do with 'carry slots' other than make the game even easier, dare I say lazier, than it has already become. :)

*if you have your apartment in a city that differs from your agency's home base.

I agree with Squirrel. It's an art to assemble gear that is optimally balanced. But I wouldn't mind an extra slot for the compact travel kit.

I would therefore like to suggest this; create a very hard quest to obtain a suitcase that will give two extra slots. One sot can only be taken by the compact travel kit. The remaining slot can only be taken by a specific item that boosts charm (e.g. deodorant) or tough (e.g. brass knuckles). Both items should be equally hard to obtain.

You know us gamers are such suckers for quests :)

I'm just asking for a little extra help for the next 30 years until I can complete enough Nemies to get my gear built up to the point where I don't need to worry about changing gear...

Is that really too much to ask?

:D

That's a well made point Squirrel, but frankly I suspect tough+smart/charm+smart gear is effectively useless right now anyway; approximately no one uses it later game. The greater boost to tough/charm is just too desirable.

So I read that as saying the next update will make it that you can't get any clues at the crime scene without having some smarts gear on :) That's totally what you're saying... right :)

Yes, absolutely. It'll pair nicely with my seven day non-stop train journey.
