Hello everyone.

As you may have noticed, there is a new look to a lot of the pages in the map section and some streamlined navigation. We tried pushing out this change a week or so ago, and ran into a few bugs and got some great suggestions from users. Hopefully this version addresses most of those concerns.

One thing that was noticed by a few Sleuths was that these changes broke the external Sleuth Helper utility. This led to a discussion about the possibility of replacing a lot of what SH offers inside the game, so that future game updates don't always need to be checked for compatibility.

If you want to read that whole discussion, it's here:
http://noir.playsleuth.com/map/cityhall/post.spy?id=36446

In response, our newly ordained code wrangler YetiFace put together a feature called "Detective's Notes" to try to provide a built-in alternative to Sleuth Helper.

You can find the Detective's Notes at the bottom of the Map page and also on the physical evidence analysis screen.

Since bringing this online represents a very big change to the core game play of Sleuth: Noir, we've decided to give Detective's Notes a try for ONE WEEK.

After a week, I'm going to put up a poll that will be open to all subscribers. We'll ask whether people want to keep the Detective's Notes around, and also offer a few options.

Please approach this with an open mind, but once you've given it a try feel free to leave honest opinions or suggestions on this thread.

In particular, if there are any specific changes to Detective's Notes that you'd like me to put on the poll at the end of the week, that would be very helpful.

Thank you soooo much to YetiFace for doing this work. And thank you all for making Sleuth Noir such a great place.

I'm glad you're enjoying it so far M. Roux. :)

It sounds as though you may be clicking the bribe button twice, either through frustration or accidentally. Do let me know though if this keeps happening and you're absolutely certain you're only clicking once.

It has happened every case today. Just one click. When it happens, and I click back on checking that evidence with the townie, that suspect is either marked off or the evidence is boxed under their name (in the notes section).

This is a new detective for me, so I must bribe a lot due to not having many skills yet. It doesn't really affect my game play; I still get that evidence compared to that suspect.

Could we take into consideration that also non - subscribers get a poll? Because I'd also like to vote, but dun have the $$$ atm to get a subscription Ben :) (I understand why only subscribers though, but dun forget about the rest of the ol' faithful Sleuth Noir players!)

I just did my first case - everything seemed fine (Did an Intermediate case with two pieces of evidence) - However... I cross - referenced 1 piece of evidence (footprint), to a real alibi - the other piece of evidence (male thread) got listed for 3 remaining suspects, including one with a real alibi.

If I recall, all intermediate cases have 2 pieces of evidence max and quite frankly, this is just a minor thing - but the real alibi person should be automatically ruled out when 1 piece of evidence is left right?

That's very odd M. Roux. I'll play through a few more cases myself and see if I can replicate it with any of my bribes, and if anyone else has this issue please do mention it.

Vulkie, the poor Research button was sacrificed so as not to over complicate the interface. However, it may be included as an option in the poll in a week. Also, no, the Notes won't make deductions like that for you - if you've deduced that a person can not possibly match a piece of evidence as it should match another, you'll need to rule them out yourself.

Thank you so much for the clarification Yeti.

I do hope the Research Case button makes it though, but I understand that due to not wanting to overcomplicating the interface, it has been left out for this week.

Again, so far loving the update and I'm hoping that everyone will vote to keep it in :)

I have yet to try the new features with my subscribed detective, she is waiting in Shangri La to start the VH tournament... I wonder if it will pop up with her too. I shall let you know! Thanks!

I do really love how it works and everything so far! It helps you with note taking but doesn't solve the case for you.

I believe I've just encountered the bribe problem too. I'll see if I can work out what's causing it.

Ok, Yeti fixed a couple small issues with the Detective's Notes on the physical evidence page.

We'll continue looking into the weird bribing bug, but as noted, the bribe actually does work. You just need to look at either the Notes or the Case File to find out what they said :)
