I just noticed that many of the titles are hidden, like "?????????" and locked. I haven't unlocked any yet, as I'm unsubscribed right now, but how can I see what those "??????????" titles are?

The titles are unlocked as you go about playing the game. For example, one of the earlier titles is unlocked after getting a complete set of contacts in the four main cities. However, there's very few titles you can unlock as an un-subscribed player. I'd recommend waiting until you subscribe in March, and then just enjoy discovering them as you play.
