After a period of absence, THE RESISTANCE has returned to the Sleuth boards with a healthy Yeti-flavoured taste.

For those unfamiliar, The Resistance is a social game of limited information. Players are split into two teams, one team being true members of the resistance, and the other being spies who have infiltrated the group. Over a course of five missions, resistance members aim to have three missions succeed, whereas spies aim to sabotage three of them. The only way for players to communicate with each other will be through this thread.

I'll post a detailed set of rules once the sign up process is over, but to give you an idea of how the game goes the first The Resistance thread on the Sleuth boards is here: http://noir.playsleuth.com/map/cityhall/post.spy?id=34582&first_record=302111

We'll need five to ten players in order to start the game. I'd like to keep this game flowing, so before putting your name down please make sure that to the best of your knowledge you'll be able to log in at least once a day for the next two weeks. You will not receive financial payment for playing THE RESISTANCE.

Devi was still annoyed that they'd been duped by the villain, but nonetheless there was still hope. She was enjoying a cup of coffee when the concierge brought her an envelope with a small note scribbled inside.

Telling the young man to wait a second, she quickly wrote a simple name on a piece of paper, shoved it in an envelope, sealed it and sent it back. The Resistance's message boy was downstairs, after all. The only reason it hadn't been him knocking on her door was the extra security she had set in place.

Mac Kerrell, Devi has used the Opinion Maker power on you, and consequently all of your YES/NO votes must be made on this thread rather than privately to me.

The introvert in me quails at this idea...

I vote YES on this mission. The villains are at the 17th hole and it's the bottom of the ninth. If we don't hit a home run now, it will be checkmate for all of us who believe in truth and justice.

Love the great metaphors Mac, but you also forgot (since it's the American football season); [In my best sports announcer voice] Ladies and Gentelman It's late in the 4th quarter, lesst than 2 minutes remaining on the clock, the home team is trailing by 1 but they have the ball on their own 1o yard line it's 3rd down with 5 yards to go for a 1st down. The ball is snapped , oh no the blitz is on, the Quarterback looks downfield for an open receivier, Damm they're all covered, he runs to the right, fake pumps once, then twice, he reverses direction, the defenders dive to sack him as he rears back and throws a Hail-Mary and ... the rest is up to you.

It was good to be back in the city that never sleeps after our miserable defeats in Shanghai and Cairo. We were holed up in the back of a speakeasy off of 32nd St., getting very close to putting the bite on Drusilla "The Bite" Spike. Devi was still fuming over our failed attempts, and taking out her frustrations by practicing with her throwing knives, I could tell she was distracted because she was only throwing them 3 at a time instead of her usual 4. Soheir was as usual chain-smoking and quietly observing the group, her eyes quick and every alert watching everything. Sal with practiced nonchalance, was sitting eerily quiet in the corner with his back to the wall playing solitaire, making not a sound, I still can’t figure out how he can silently shuffle a deck of cards. Mac the intellectual in our group was reading a book on existential physics or something, while running a quarter back and forth across his knuckles, like a street magician. And Turtledove was busy cleaning his pistol while tapping his foot to some melody heard only by himself and sipping a gin n tonic. We were keyed up and you could feel the tension in the air, we all knew that spies had infiltrated our group but who was it or in this case them. My strategy to out the spies had been a colossal failure and to say our backs are up against the wall would be an understatement. We had to catch go fishing, maybe we could get a bite.

Mission 4 Result:

Drusilla "The Bite" Spike was having a bite to eat at The Restaurant, coincidentally where she was holed up. Turtledove walked up and joined the table. Detecting a hint of surprise in her face that he'd managed to get the drop on her, he said, "After all my time spent chasing villains I've become rather used to your ways. Did you really think you were only in danger when you slept?"

Lou Hoyle pulled a bag over her head, and Devi took a mighty swing with the butt of one of her pistols, knocking Drusilla out. Interrogating her later they managed to get her to give them a little more information on the location of the UVE Villainic:

"I don't know exactly where it is, but I do know that it is NORTH OF SOUTH AFRICA"

NORTH OF SOUTH AFRICA and WEST OF MOSCOW. Things were really starting to come together..

The mission has been a success!

Mission Five:

The Resistance travelled to Delhi for their final make or break case. The spies in their number had managed to trip them up two times already, and if they managed to trip them up again it would all be over. On the other hand, if they managed to solve this case successfully there were good chances they could finally make a move on the UVE Villainic itself.

Jezebel "Diamondback" Jaeger was somewhere in Delhi, and one way or another everything depended upon her.

Sal Iva, please put together a team of four players for this mission. Your special power is somewhat useless at this stage, however:

KEEPING A CLOSE EYE ON YOU: The player who receives this can use it to find out what another player has picked as their action (success or sabotage) during an upcoming mission that they are on. This info will come as a PM from me.

Devi was busy in her apartment. She knew that Yeti was the one to announce everyone else that the mission had been a success. Devi, of course, already knew this first hand.

She was quickly grabbing clothes left and right, preparing to pack for yet another trip. This time around, she made sure to add some sturdy shoes, her raincoat and an umbrella.

Whether she was going to be on the mission or not, she was going to be there for the questioning. Lou had been more than efficient this time around, but she was sure she'd be able to get villains singing their crimes without using so much force.

Great job in New York everyone, TD and Devi you were fantastic. It took a little persuasion (let’s just say that The Bite isn’t an appropriate moniker for her anymore) but Drusilla finally told us that the last Villain we are after is Jezebel "Diamondback" Jaeger, so get packed, we are traveling to Delhi, (and if memory serves it will be mostly hot and wet) for the showdown, and its winner take all. And Ladies and Gents it’s going to be a very tough one.
