After a period of absence, THE RESISTANCE has returned to the Sleuth boards with a healthy Yeti-flavoured taste.

For those unfamiliar, The Resistance is a social game of limited information. Players are split into two teams, one team being true members of the resistance, and the other being spies who have infiltrated the group. Over a course of five missions, resistance members aim to have three missions succeed, whereas spies aim to sabotage three of them. The only way for players to communicate with each other will be through this thread.

I'll post a detailed set of rules once the sign up process is over, but to give you an idea of how the game goes the first The Resistance thread on the Sleuth boards is here: http://noir.playsleuth.com/map/cityhall/post.spy?id=34582&first_record=302111

We'll need five to ten players in order to start the game. I'd like to keep this game flowing, so before putting your name down please make sure that to the best of your knowledge you'll be able to log in at least once a day for the next two weeks. You will not receive financial payment for playing THE RESISTANCE.

Devi stood in her apartment, enjoying the view towards the famous pyramids. She had received a missive from Yeti regarding the mission she had set up. A thread of anger ran through her when she read the note and quickly crumbled the paper before firing up a match and making sure there was nothing but ash left behind.

She leaned forward on the balcony railing, looking in the distance. Devi narrowed her eyes and huffed. "Well, well, well. You can't make an omelette without breaking some eggs and it looks like they've started cracking. If the mission fails, someone's going down."

I will help you better understand the concepts of the game and it's a hoot (very funny) to read.

I believe there's a further three Resistance games on the boards as well, if anyone fancies even further reading.

After rushing about Cairo furiously chronicling just how much the residents enjoy coffee, and whether or not they have pets, and charting their bizarre, almost cult-like obsession with two authors to the exclusion of all others, the results were in. Sir "Crazy Eyes" Wolf was holed up with the Rug Merchant. Lou Hoyle went to guard the train station, whilst Mac Kerrell and Soheir made their way to the hideout, hoping to imitate Devi and turtledove's success. Instead they found a note pinned to a beam:

"We know you are coming for us, we would be worried were it not for the fact we will get to you first! Demon Face & The Clown"

Sir "Crazy Eyes" Wolf must have been tipped off hours before the team launched into action, doubtless by either Demon Face or The Clown - the villain names of the infiltrators.

Mission 3:

Countess "Hoot Owl" Xu, like many villains, had a rather confused sounding name. Countess "Hoot Owl" Xu was not a confused villain however. She knew very well that she wanted to set up camp in Shanghai and cause a string of murder related chaos. She also knew something about the location of the UVE Villainic.

Turtledove, please craft a team of four players for this mission. Your special power to keep for yourself, or distribute to another, is:

STRONG LEADER: This power allows the player to usurp leadership from whoever currently holds it. Order of play will then flow from the usurper. It can not be used once a mission has already been approved, and it does not allow the usurper to distribute any powers the original leader may have had. This power can be held until needed.

Well, I can't say I'm surprised. When you introduce two new people into a mission, one of them is bound to be a spy.

Soheir I think you miscounted unless I'm mistaken Devi assigned three new Detectives to catch Sir Wolf. I hate to have to agree with Soheir but, I can't say I'm suprised that the mission failed either, the odds were against not having at least one spy on the mission with three unknown Detectives and eventhough it's risky to make the sabotage vote, they couldn't afford to allow it to be a success because that would put the resistiance up 2 - 0.
So to look at the positive aspect we know that at least one of us three is a spy, making it very dificult for him or her not to be discovered because it they vote to sabotage again with new members it will seriously jepordize their cover. And the only way to circumvent this is to place both spies on the same team which is generally considered a very bad idea because of the chance of both being discovered. It's unfortunate for TD to have to choose a team of four, because the odds are very good that there will be another spy and possibly both on the next mission. Let's hope it's both because unless they break the comunication rules there is no way for them to know if the other will vote to sabotage, so they either risk it for the win or vote success in which case the resistiance goes ahead 2 - 1. I would suggest that TD pick a team of Himself, Devi, Sal and either Mac or Soheir. I would choose this because of the reason I gave earlier, I know that I'm not a spy and it will be very difficult for the spies to go undiscovered but it's unfortunate that we didn't get a better power card.

1. Out of clutter, find simplicity. 2. From discord, find harmony. 3. In the middle of difficulty lies opportunity.

Lou, this is creepy. After careful consideration I came up with the exact same team but you beat me to the punch! I really must have my office searched for bugs.

For this mission I propose Sal, Devi, Mac and myself. I will keep the special power card, Strong Leader, for myself.
