How do you solve an almost impossible case?

Right now I've pretty much got all the basic skills and can solve really hard cases with some luck.

I'm just thinking aloud here cuz it'll be months before I get to AI level, but:

How the heck does anyone ever solve an AI case? I feel I'm relying a lot on luck to get really hard. I only have a few more skills to pick up and they don't seem to be that much use if everyone's going to clam all the time.

Curious how the world looks at the top of the sleuth world ;).

Solving AI cases is never a given, but it's doable most of the time once you have the right skills and gear. Since you're 'Very Charming' you'll want to be focusing on gear that will give you charm points. Each point means suspects and townie are less likely to clam on you straight away. Advanced Sweet Talking will help you a lot as well, so get that as soon as you've got all the basics.

Most of us have a set of 'smart' gear we use for the crime scene, and then a set of either tough or charming gear for the rest of the case. You can store your gear either in an agency locker or an apartment. The smart gear means that you're more likely to be able to analyse evidence, so that reduces the number of questions you have to ask.

The further you progress in the game, the better gear you can pick up - I won't go into the whole realm of spoilers, but there are other sources of equipment than the ones open to you at the moment. :) When I've got my charm gear on I'm at 31 charm points, so that makes a lot of difference.

It's also partly a question of practice - the longer you play, the better you get at whittling down the number of questions you have to ask to solve a case. Happy Sleuthing!
