Don't ask me why I am thinking of this, as it is silly. But as we have such an international crowd here, god knows how many languages we have between us.

Did you know that animal sounds, when used in language are different in different languages?

From (E)nglish to (D)utch
Pig: (E)Oink Oink = (D) knor knor
Dog: (E) Arf Arf = (D) woef woef
Duck: (E) quack quack = (D) kwak kwak
Cat: (E) miow miow = (D) miauw miauw
Sheep: (E) Baaaah = (D) Mèèèèèh

OK does thinking about this qualify me as a moron. (signs point to yes)

jstkdn u r acctually not the only one *blashing* When I first came to holland I had to teach children at school and was busy with a story about a farm. The kids almost killed me because I used the wrong sounds! Had to ask my dutch friends to teach me the right ones. Very embaressing for a grown women to ask... I still get confused though.
