Well, since we're very good with this whodunnit thing, I decided to launch this little game here.
It's pretty simple. I am someone (person, cartoon, book character, whatever) and everyone else can have a guess at who I am.
The one who guesses it has the next round, and we'll try to guess on him/her.
I hope this works. :-)
To start, I'll give you all one hint: I'm a real person.

Ah. I think I might have misunderstood when you said 'the books came later' - I thought you meant later than Narnia & Alice, rather than that her original inception wasn't in books. Let me see... Did she by any chance start off in a film, then become the central character of a hit TV series, and spend a lot of time with Mr Pointy? :)

Much kudos to Leddie for the choice. :)

Hmm. Let's have another fictional character.

Male or female? Is it a mythological or literary character?

Female. I wouldn't describe her as either mythological or literary. :)

Film, TV, cartoon, comic book? Any other media? Perhaps opera? :)

Is she young or old or does she age over the canon?

She's a TV character. I was doing some research on the age question (see below) and discovered that there is apparently also a comic strip which features her, and she is also mentioned in song lyrics, but it's as a TV character that she's best known.

(Hmm, an opera version, now there's an idea...)

It's not clear how old she is, and I've failed to find out. It would be obvious if she were particularly young or particularly old, so neither of those. There are no signs that she ages over the canon.

So she is a character from a TV series. Is it a British or American series? Is it still running? Crime, SF, fantasy or something different?
