Well, since we're very good with this whodunnit thing, I decided to launch this little game here.
It's pretty simple. I am someone (person, cartoon, book character, whatever) and everyone else can have a guess at who I am.
The one who guesses it has the next round, and we'll try to guess on him/her.
I hope this works. :-)
To start, I'll give you all one hint: I'm a real person.

I think I found him, but I must admit I have never heard of him before. Googling definitely broadens the mind :). Thanks for giving us such an interesting detective task, Breit.

He is Monsieur Lecoq by the French writer Emile Gaboriau.

um, no, it's not him. but i like the guess.

maybe this will help. if our guy were allive, he'd be hanging out A LOT in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. If you all can't get it from that, i'll reserve a spot for you in sleuth school.... ;0) L

Lol I give up! Everything pointed to Monsieur Lecoq, from Hugo and Balzac to Gerard Depardieu. But Philadelphia? I'm completely confused :).

OK, I succumbed and Googled and came up with the fascinating Eugène François Vidocq, inspirer among other things of Philadelphia's Vidocq Society. Which I'd never heard of in the real world, but I know the Sleuth agency!

OK, people, time for a new one. I very much doubt I can match Breit for ingenuity, but here goes nothing... ;)

YYYYYAAAAAYYYYYYYY CORDY!!!!!!!!!! ;-D ;-D ;-D ;-D ;-D

Good for you!! I was beginning to think I chose too hard a person. ;-)

Vidocq is known as the father of modern criminology and forensics, and the founder of the first state-run police agency (the Surete of France) and the first detective agency. He was also convicted numerous times of various crimes from forgery to manslaughter (ergo, he worked on both sides of the law. ;-). Today, law-enforcement agents from all over the world honour him by being part of a private-sector group that deals with unsolved crimes. It's called the Vidocq Society (yes, there really IS a real Vidocq Society ;-), and it's based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Voila. ;-)

Again, GOOD JOB, CORDY!!!! ;-D ;-D ;-D

So. Is this woman alive or dead?? American (N0rth or South), European, Asian, African, or Oceanic?? ;-)

P.S. -- Vidocq was the inspiration for several famous authours and playwrights, including Hugo and de Balzac. ;-)
