Well, since we're very good with this whodunnit thing, I decided to launch this little game here.
It's pretty simple. I am someone (person, cartoon, book character, whatever) and everyone else can have a guess at who I am.
The one who guesses it has the next round, and we'll try to guess on him/her.
I hope this works. :-)
To start, I'll give you all one hint: I'm a real person.

Is he any god, though? 'Cause I can't help thinking of Jacques Clouseau :) Though it's probably not him, I *need* to say it, if only to get it out of the way :) So, he couldn't be Belgian, by any chance? Yes, I'm thinking of Poirot...but then that's because I always go for the obvious :) If it's even slightly out of the way, chances are, I dunno :)

There're those who would say he's extremely good. At what, I ain't sayin'. ;-D

No, it's not Jacques Clouseau. Or Poirot, for that matter. I already told y'all that this guy's French. Good thinkin', though, Bela. ;-D

Small hint: A paradigm on both sides of the law. ;-D

I feel the need to recap:

French. Male. In books and on TV. Has been a police detective but has also done other things, some of which may have been on the shadier side of the law.

Is that right for what we know so far?

Is it someone from Edgar Allen Poe?

Is it a French author that is well-known and published in English speaking countries?

Is he in Paris? Or another place in France?

What is his other job? Is he:

A writer?
A lawyer?
An artist?
A politician?
In the law in any way?
In organized crime?
In an secret agency?

Has this character been played by any well-know actors?

It is:

A detective.
In both books and film. Films -- 1911, 1923, 1939, and 2001. Books -- too many to mention.
A male.
French.
VERY good at solving crimes.
A policeman.
Known for things on the wrong side of the law also.
A well-known French authour, and published in many languages, including English.
Located in Paris, and in several other cities, including Arras, Ostend, Brussels, Lille, Brest, Cholet, Rotterdam, Toulon, Louvres, and Saint Mande.
Known for being a writer, politician, involved in the law in several ways, involved in crime (though not organized crime ;-), and in a secret agency (of sorts).
Been played by several well-known actors, most recently Gerard Depardieu.

It is NOT:
British.
American.
Ctown.
Italian.
Swedish.
Inspector Maigret (sorry, Daenerys, didn't see that one. ;-)
Jacques Clouseau.
Belgian.
Hercule Poirot.
Arsene Lupin.
Someone from Edgar Allan Poe.
A lawyer or artist.

Think that's all of it. ;-D

Small hint: An inspiration to many, including Victor Hugo and H0nore de Balzac. ;-)

Keep goin'!! ;-D
