Have you just had your best day of Sleuthing ever? Solved your first AI case? Got your last contact? Picked up your first treasure? Found a spoon? Finally got into the Prince's Palace?*

This is the place to share the joy, have a 'woot' or two and be congratulated by your fellow Sleuths.

Or maybe you've just had to pay Shady enough cash to finance a small war. Or reached screaming point with the tailor in Delhi. Or been pirated twice in a row. Or fallen into a trap three times running. You can share the woe, too, and we'll commiserate. We've probably been there too.

Me? I'm just happy that after two days' worth of 'south of the race track' I've finally got out of Shanghai :)

(* If you don't get the references, never mind. You could ask someone. Or you could just wait and see what the world of Sleuth brings you further down the line...)

I failed an AV, haven't done that in years. I was in Cairo, left a mark on my paper from a previous hunt. Ooops! Well, life goes on.

"No. It is quite useless, my dear friend. Your brass knuckles might as well be made from butter, for all the good that they will do against such villainy." said Melanie, in what at first seemed a sigh of resignation to defeat. I could tell the Nemesis was getting to her. But I could also tell that she was close.

"You must remember that we - or rather I - are dealing with not a human but a human-spider. A pupper-master. On each of the webs under his or her control, reside several - nay dozens if not hundreds of automatons, each capable of their own brand of skullduggery and outrageous criminal activity. But were any of these "puppets" to even think for a second about dancing slightly away from the beat that their master has set, then jailtime would be the least of their worries." MDL continued, in one of her deep philosophical musings.

"No, I simply *must* find another way! And I would particularly like to wipe the smirk from the face of the Dvorkin fellow." The pause that followed told me everything else that I needed to know.

"Thank you for your continued support, Roberto, but you must return to the relative safety of the agency at once." I nodded in agreement, folding the knuckles back into their holder. I didn't like using them anyway.

Not for the first time, MDL was on her own.

Before we parted - for what could potentially be several weeks - it finally hit me. My Nemesis' final goal.

"We do know at least one thing, however - if not several - about our opponent."

"We do?" quizzed Roberto - eyebrow suitably raised. Admittedly, it did seem rather absurd at first glance.

"We do indeed. On at least three occasions in the past two months, there have been some decidely oafish and incompetent attempts to infiltrate my courier-pigeon network. More specifically, to replace my dear friend Speckled Jim whilst recruiting him into another network. And no doubt in an attempt to retrieve the lock of my hair that accompanies each and every message sent with him."

"So ... the Nemesis is trying to frame you?"

"Almost certainly. And almost equally certain is that whoever used this cheap brand of shoepolish in an attempt to impersonate my pigeons will not be able to regret their mistakes for long." An ounce of pity appeared across both our faces.

"Might I borrow a lock of your hair?" I continued.

Roberto Del Sid smiled. Puppet-master or not, he knew that I had a plan. A most cunning plan.

But it was time to go our separate ways.

Yay - exactly 8000000 Experience. A nice round number methinks. Seems a shame to break it but that Nemesis won't catch itself!

It's another trip on the AVH circuit for me.

Solved my first AI case w/o tough skills and w/o having to resort to witness evidence due to clammed townies. Quite proud of myself :)

Great job, Midnight...soon, you'll be able to do VHs, and get all your skills :)

I got my first Nemesis Task today! I managed to do the case, and my task was to "help out the Cairo FT"...I had to spend 5 skill points on her. Still, it was definitely worth it! :)

And good luck MDL, and you too Roberto :)

Here's an idea.........Reward the long time sleuths, or..call it dangling a carrot both work. I suggest a way to redeem the unspent skill points.

Example:
I have hostage negotion however I"d like to barter my unspent skill points.....namely I'd like to buy trap detection. Take ALL my unspent skill points and I'll pay a reasonable fee too. I don't care it would be worth it. These points are just building up and are worthless. Please --make them worth something.

I'm rubbing my magic bottle now hoping Ben will pop out and grant my wish.

Or.........S.S do you have the power??

Just got a chuckle. I'm working on a case now with Jumah, Huma, and Numa for suspects. And to think Admin doesn't like turning our brains into mush.... ;-)
