Items and such

I'm sure there's a thread somewhere, but is there any sort of system to recommend new items? I've seen threads about possible ideas for doing that, but maybe I didn't read enough to get to whether there was one yet or not. I ask because I've been ebay trawling (as I am wont to do), for vintage and antique jewelry and such, and I've found some amazing pieces that I can't help thinking I wish that were an item on sleuth!

Speaking of which I just got an email from a seller, and the 1886 cameo necklace broke as she was preparing to ship it out. v_v I'm so sad.

Hate it when that happens.

Anywhoo, just wondering

I don't know about any way to recommend new items in the original, but if you check out my site, you will find that with some cooperation, you can create your very own items (to be carried "over" the original items).
If you have a free item slot, you may check out the "dog shop" that I added in Shanghai, and have a look as to what happens in the extended and the original when you buy one of them....
Then you can imagine what would happen if you bought an item that looked differently?
- or in some other way managed to get yourself some other items?
Now, the items might be created over there. You will have to upload a picture of the item, and tell me (so I can release it), and then you go ahead and create the item, with what item it's going to be a "mirror" of, as well as it's name and description.... ;-)
Later on we might even get somewhere where you can aquire your newly created item as well? ;-)

And, with a complete example of the item you want, I even imagine it would be easier to ask Ben to create the item in the original as well?
My personal belief are that the biggest challenge are finding the pictures, sizing them correctly and find a name and description for them. :-)

I plan to develop hunt's for you to create and do to get to the new fancy items. Some kind of "scripted hunts"

Oh, yea, and I AM waiting for Ben to help me with the password challenge. Use some temporary password or a "spare" character to work with if you feel unsecure.

Oh, okay cool! I may check that out then!

These are sort of what I'm talking about, just little odds and ends I came across on ebay last night. I was just sort of curious about the procedure! Thanks, Irene!

I did an attempt... - and Molly Maltese might now be seen through the Extended site at this link:

Hopefully it will work for you as for me.
- but, the items had been much better if someone else made them ;-)

Molly, you bring up an interesting point that we would like to address.

As we're sure many of you have seen, a few months ago we added some new AI items to the game. We are still working on adding more items, but one of the hardest jobs is searching out all the images.

We are also aware of the many offers over time from people who would like to help with the game.

We are currently looking for more images to add to the game as items, so if anyone would like to help, we would be delighted to receive any images you would like to see included. The images do not have to be sized or desaturated; we will take care of that. If you're feeling creative, you can also add a blurb with the image.

We cannot guarantee that all images will be used, but we do aim to try and upload as many as possible.

Thank you all, we look forward to seeing what you come up with!

Hi HLI, let us know what kind of images you're currently looking for, and we shall try to find'em for you (cloths, items, people, cities etc etc) I'm chinese so i might be able to find some nice old oriental images of the 30's in websites hosted in other languages.

I just want to point out that Irene's attempt was stellar, and I WAS able to view it through the extended link. It's definitely a fun example of what her extended site can do, and I personally applaud her for taking the time to put such a huge undertaking together. Thanks Irene!

Yes, the extended site is definitely amazing, and it's coming together quite well. Wait until you see what JZ's alternative ensemble for the Survivor beauty contest! I'm not sure if it will be judged, but i sure had a kick making it and putting it on. It's so much fun! Irene's definitely amazing.

Thank you so much for your positive comments. If I was allowed to choose from the upper shelf, I would love it if HLI and I could cooperate!
:-)
HLI is doing so much great for the site as well, and can do things I am not able to at all.
What I can do are offering a way for the community to create new items themselves (and more things will come).
What a dream it had been if HLI would be willing to adopt some of the items into the game as well? - and, when the community have created them, they will be all prepared with name, description and picture. - and may be some challenges that will be needed to get to them?
My aim is to put together a site that the community can use to add into this great game that we all love. I see it as no different from what HLI is doing - adding to this great game.
