I just got this in a PM.
Shady's Quote for da week:
"A man can't be too careful in the choice of his enemies. "
Oscar Wilde.
The sender's name was Shady. I immediately went to City Hall to check who it was from. It turns out that "Detective Shady" has a very old, very neglected licence of his own.

Much as I don't like to mention no dead Greeks, what wid still bein under da pump from da coppers bout da mysterious disappearance of 'Two Dogs' Papodopolous, Shady's quote of da week neverdaless comes from Epictetus:
"It is impossible for a man to learn what he thinks he already knows."
which is a heck of alot more enlightenin than old 'Two Dogs', coz the last thing I remember him saying was 'no, please... mudda... myrfl gryfl erk...'

"It's been a long day whens you is walkin home and da paper boy is out selling da City News already, but I'll make time for youse bums just dis once. I talks to who I wants, when I wants, capiche! Some of youse louses should be grateful you is not around when Shady is doin his rounds!"
That's what Shady says on the previous page. I guess that means if you're on when he's on he might talk to you, otherwise you're outa luck. Fickle huh.

Which is kinda odd, given he's sending PMs - why do we need to be around to read them then and there? Why couldn't he just be sending us a mysterious note?
Sigh. There are things about this game and time zones that are occasionally frustrating.

I has been readin' up on the likes of youse what has got literary pursoots. Wordy aint youse all.
Me I like my writin' to be pithy-like: "Pay up while youse still has yer kneecaps, yer bum", and the like.
Still this fella, Jules Renard, once said:
"Writing is a way of talking without being interrupted."
and Shady can't argue with dat.

Let's hear it for Shady's appearance!
'Molotov' Parkowitz aint got a trace of hair on his head. Says one night a pal of his, for a lark mind you, laid down some glue on his 'tools of da trade'. Reckons one moment he was lobbin' one of his callin' cards in through some schleps front window and da next he's wakin up in da hospital wrapped up like King Tut. Heck of a lark...
S'kinda funny, coz Shady heard recently dat:
“Discretion is being able to raise your eyebrow instead of your voice.”
Guessin whoever said dat never met ol' Molotov

Can anyone give me a small hint as to whether we're supposed to be doing anything about these quotes, other than soaking up the wisdom?
