Motive Sources

Are there any other motive sources than the suspects themselves?
I just now had to quit a case because I didn't know the motive. The culprit was in front of me with evidence at hand but still I had to quit.

Afraid not - the only way you can find out a motive is to ask the suspects. That's why most of us tend to ask for motives before we ask for alibis, especially on the higher level cases. Sorry you had to quit!

What I do on harder level cases is I ask for alibis first if and only if I have a bunch of suspects I can ask motives from. If they have more than one question left I ask for suspects/motives. However if you only have one suspect to question always ask for motives first. And while I was still low level enough I was even more cautious and extended the rule to be if I had two suspects I could ask for motives I always asked first in case there was some nasty clamming involved.

It is rare, but not unheard of, for me to not expose all motives. Addionally, although I didn't check to see if you were subscribed or in an agency, if you do get people clammed you can always put your case in the agency file and have a fellow agent check to unclam suspects.
