Experience Lost

After helping the archaeologist recover the missing piece of the map, the distant prospect of exploring one of the world's most distinguished landmarks has finally come.

This old maze was reminiscent of the corridors in Shangri La. The fun ended when I walked into a surprisingly victim friendly pirate trap. Undeterred, I waltzed back in for another lift or three. My success in finding the Tea Steepers was made easy with graphing paper for a map I composed as I explored. Likewise, the same would surely work here...or so I optimistically surmised.

"I carefully made my way towards the light and leaned around a corner to see two pirates digging a small object out of the wall. To my dismay, I realized that I had arrived at my destination a few minutes too late. My run-ins with the Pirates' traps must have alerted them to my presence. The map I had worked so hard to complete was useless."

Naturally I was devastated. I don't know how glorious a bunch relics could possibly be, but those skill points took me a lot of work to earn. The higher one ascends in experience, the more of it is needed in earning another skill point. The next four will take a lot more effort. They could have been put to something better.

I still feel cheated, and I'm sure that everyone else this happened to agrees. Aren't there enough harsh panalties in this game to rival real life? A warning would have been really nice!

Clint, what you might want to do is this : Try to do a favor for your contact. Then you automatically get a map.

It saves points,you know? ^=^

I presume you're trying to earn one or two certain pieces of equipment that might prove valuable to you?? (And no, we don't talk bout most of this stuff openly on the boards. It's considered 'spoiler' material, and detectives usually have to try and figure out most of this stuff on their own.)

However, I can tell you this:

The path you went down is usually used by those who have racked up an OBSCENE amount of skill points (like a hundred or more over the max needed for any skills currently available), and this option is an easy one used to get rid of the darned things. Otherwise, they just sit there, gathering Saharan dust, so to speak.

As Vulkie said (and will prob'ly be getting modded for [sorry, Vulkie, it's nothing personal, I promise]), you might want to go pay a visit to your local Cairo townies, and see if they can lend you a hand. Don't have anyone 'specially friendly to you at the moment in that town?? Try making some new allies. You might be pleasantly surprised with your efforts. ;-)

And yes, lots of us have been in your shoes and sympathize. (Trust me, I sympathize. Over, and over, and over.... Darned pirates. ;-)

Good luck, and keep at it. You'll find your treasure yet. ;-)

Clint, a "very close associate" of mine took a different path than I did. When I arrived in Sleuthville, she and I discussed our affiliations in far-off locations, and it was agreed that I would follow an alternate path. Although traveling is sometimes frustrating, I am unparalleled when it comes to navigating through dusty, underground, twisty places :)

I dearly love my satin slippers (at least for now). My very close friend is like a sister to me, so I have been known to share my good fortune with her :)

She also had similar experiences to yours, and was frustrated enough that she took a long vacation. However, when she "gave me a call" I arrived in Sleuthville, with very little experience (okay, NO experience), but I learned quickly with her help and I returned the favor.

All of the above to avoid being modded, hope this helps Clint. I DO feel your pain :(

Hey Clint, i had discussed this with my fellow agency member as well, and the problem is how to navigate the mazes successfully without 'detection' helps. My way is not 100% fool proof, but it does limit the possibility of running into a trap. So far in Cairo, I had wasted very little skill points and had gotten myself many certs. (Only stopped because other interests are grabbing my attention). I've shared my methods with my fellow agency friends and hopefully it helped him as well. You probably have figure out part of the tricks, but I shall PM you for further discussion on the subject. ~cheers and keep up the good spirit!

You are not the only one Clint. Even though skill points are not my problem I do keep losing maps because of those stupid traps. Then you have to start all over again with the favors! I have given up on the shoes and books for now. Maybe one day....
