Hello all.
I'm fairly new to Sleuth and I thought I might share a little hobby of mine with you all. Here's something for that sad moment when the mysteries of the day are all done.

Thousands lay up gold within this house,
but no man made it.
Spears past counting guard this house,
but no man wards it.
What is it?

OK, this probably isn't right since it only makes a marginal amount of sense but:

Since they were in the kitchen, with the cabinets open, the nephew should have thought Dr March said "check the flour" instead of "check the flower". Since he didn't he was obviously looking for the coin on the body?

The driver was going in reverse. Never said anything about the car's reverse lights.

Another:
While reading an article on slaughterhouses, Mrs. Shady fell asleep and dreamt she was a chicken on a large farm. She dreamt that a farmer caught her and put her nec on the chopping block. Just as his axe was descending Mr. Shady walked into the room and touched the back of her neck to awaken her. The shock was so great she died instantly. Is there anything wrong with this story?

Anyone whom already knows this riddle is not allowed to answer. Also looking up the answer is not allowed. So there. :)

i think it's that you have to be touched at the front of the neck, where the more sensitive areas are instead of the back where it's more plain, of course, i'm to young to understand to much anyway. am i right?

There's a pressure point just above the nape of the neck that, once pushed, is supposed to knock a person out for twenty minutes. Combined with the dream, her body could truly have believed that her head had been chopped off.
