Hello all.
I'm fairly new to Sleuth and I thought I might share a little hobby of mine with you all. Here's something for that sad moment when the mysteries of the day are all done.

but no man made it.
Spears past counting guard this house,
but no man wards it.
What is it?

Yes, the sign was something visual.
Yes, another man may shoot his own wife if he came across this sign.

Were the man and woman married? Is the nature of their relationship relevant?

nice job bookem!

The man had been shot during a game of poker. One of his opponents noticed an ace sticking out of his sleeve, a fight broke out, and he was shot, crashing through the poker table and scattering the full deck of Bicycle playing cards, plus the extra ace.
