(Everyone's a suspect!)

There was a quite noticeable scuff on the floor.

The creme de la creme of the world's crime-fighting society were at a formal dinner at her modest country residence that evening, and there was a scuff on the floor.

Molly Maltese sighed in tones of great irritation and wondered how she hadn't noticed the mark BEFORE all her guests had arrived. They were in the dining room now, chattering happily and dining on the delicious meal she had hired a cook specifically for. Many of her friends and associates were then, including some new faces. One new face in particular; a Mr. John Harlequin. He was a new politician in the area, determined to take on Joe Hollis for mayor. His past was basically unknown; his favorability extreme. Citizens either loved him or hated him.

Just as she had this thought, someone shrieked.

"He's choking!"

Raising a brow, she hurried from the parlor to look in. All the guests seated at the long table were either standing or sitting with shocked expressions; and John Harlequin was quite shockingly purple.

Even as she rushed into the room and neared him, Harlequin gave one final gasp and died. Silence descended as she grabbed his glass and sniffed at the rim delicately. She turned, and countless eyes bored into her.

"Alright, which one of you poisoned my guest?" she snarled.

Whispers and titters danced along the table, before a very familiar man stood. "We should call the police." he said.

Another raised a brow. "There's a room full of detectives here. I'm sure that's not necessary."

"It is when one of those detectives may be a murderer!"

"We can't send for the police anyway; can't you see its been snowing all this time? We can't go anywhere!" another shouted. Molly went to the window and looked out. Sure enough, snow blanketed everything in sight. The cars parked out front were completely obscured by white.

"Nobody is leaving! If you try, I'll shoot every last one of you!" Molly yelled, pulling out a pistol.

"Eureka!" Heimlich shouted startling everyone in the room, "My dear boy I do believe you have it!"

Marc raised one eyebrow at Heimlich, "Er... yes, of course I do! Why not explain it for everyone else though?"

"The chef knew the bourbon was poisoned! She and Elise conspired to do it together." Heimlich exclaimed, "It is for precisely this reason that when I attempted to add bourbon to the yams, she refused to allow me! Not only that, but she grabbed my wrist rather than the bottle. She wanted to make sure that her prints didn't show up on the bottle."

Marc nodded. "Right!" he said excitedly, "Then once Harlequin was taken care of, the chef took out the one person who could turn her in!"

Molly stepped forward shaking her head with her hand on her forehead. "There are a couple of problems with that. Why the note? And what motive could my chef possibly have for wanting to kill Mr. Harlequin? I've employed her for years! This is pure coincidence that they were here on the same night!"

"Oh is it?" a voice rang out.

Elizabeth didn't want to speak up, but she felt like she had to.

"That's all very nice, Mr. Lacrimosa", she refused to call him "Marc" during all of this mess.

"But we need motives. I mean, unless you're completely insane, which doesn't seem to be the case, you don't poison people with rat poison with no reason at all. As I stated before, we all had reasons to dislike Mr. Harlequin. I've declared mine, and no one else has, but fine."

She then turned to Molly.

"Molly dear, what do you know about Elsie's past life? No need to give unrelated details, you can tell us only what you think it's important. We all have secrets, at the end of the day."

As she finished talking, she went back to the window, tidying her somewhat messy blouse.

Marc took into consideration what Elizabeth said. She was right and he, as well as everyone else, knew it. There had to be a motive. But what could it be? Revenge? Perhaps they were related and the cook wanted Harlequin's inheritance if she knew he'd be killed.

Heimlich seemed to know that Marc was on to something. Molly was shocked. But perhaps they were all wrong. Maybe there was another maid that could have done it. Perhaps there was another maid or butler no one but Molly knew about. One who mainly cleaned parts of the house that hasn't been searched.

Marc pulled out his pipe and began to pace back and forth thinking about this.."theory". Yes it made sense. It made lot's of sense. But they just couldn't point fingers at the chef for doing it. They neede proof.

Molly opend her mouth to open Elizabeth's question when she was cut off by Marc. "Molly, can you call your chef in here? I have a few questions for him/her. I just want to make sure that your chef is innocent. I'd hate for such a good cook to be a cold blooded killer."

A NOTE: There is one player among the rpers who is the killer. The killer will not be an NPC. ;D

As Molly was about to fetch the cook, someone suddenly noticed that Vulkie was missing.

"When's the last time anyone saw her?" Joseph asked.

"When Joseph had the result from the handwriting, I did knock on her door, asking her to meet us in the dining room. " Molly said, "but I was standing outside and didn't wait for her reply before I went off to inform the others."

"That's really odd of her," Heimlich commented, "Usually she's the first to show up. Let me go fetch her."

"I'll go with you." Several people volunteered.

As the small group went up to Vulkies' room and the rest of the group stayed in the dining hall, someone mentioned seeing Vulkie going into her room with a special guest of Molly's. "Perhaps they were just... having fun?" Just then, yells and shouts were coming from Vulkie's room.

"She's brutally murdered!" Elizabeth exclaimed from upstairs. "Vulkie's dead!"

((after careful examination of the room, it was concluded that the killer did not leave any trace evidence))

Vulkie couldn't take that 'special guest' of Molly any longer and decided to take a stroll in the hall. As she past one of the room, she noticed someone whom she was familiar with.

"Hey, it's you! What are you doing...?" Vulkie went into the room and closed the door behind her. "Why are you doing that? Wait. Don't tell me..." Vulkie couldn't believe her eyes.

"Sorry Vulkie, i think you knew too much... I'm so sorry..."

The person wrapped his/her palm around Vulkie's face to muffle her scream, and hit her head hard with a statue. That was the last scream she would ever utter.

Molly stepped into the room where Vulkie lay, sightless eyes staring up at the ceiling. There was a pool of blood soaking her hair.

She paced around the body for a moment, and then laced her fingers together.

"It had to be one of us." she murmured softly. Elizabeth inquired what she meant, and Molly pointed a finger at Vulkie.

"The expression on her face is not fear. It's surprise. Vulkie was on alert like the rest of us. If a stranger had come to her exhibiting signs of strange behavior, she would have shot first and asked questions later. There are a few guests that are virtual strangers to Vulkie, but only 5 or 6 that she would be comfortable going into a room alone with."

She clenched her fist. "This cinches it. The killer is one of our colleagues. And when we find out who, and we WILL find out who, I shall have a good many questions for them."

She tugged a sheet off a nearby bed and flung it in the air, letting it settle slowly over Vulkie.

"My other guests may do as they like. Us 6, we will not let each other out of our sight. To do so may have grave consequences."

Marc stepped up to the body. Careful not to contaminate anything around it, he put on his gloves and kneeled down next to Vulkie's lifeless body. He began searching for anything that may give out the name of the killer. something. Anything. There had to be. Everyone else began looking in the room.

Marc carefully picked up Vulkie's right hand by the wrist and thus, he found it. Underneath her middle finger nail was a piece of thread from the killer's clothes. He carefully placed her hand the way it was positioned before he picked it up.

Marc felt everyone stop and stare at him as he made his way to the desk on the other side of the room. He sat down and pulled out his magnifying glass and looked even closer at it.

Joseph came up behind Marc. "What do you have?" he asked.

"A thread...appearing to be......wool," Marc said slowly, "It's color is.....charcoal gray...." Marc said setting down his magnifying glass.

"Everyone, go get every jacket and coat you have brouth with you. I want every person in this house, in this room. Molly? That means to go get your personal cook and/or anyother maid or butler. This thread does not match Vulkie's clothse. It's from the killer."

"Have you not listened to a word I've said?" Molly snapped, losing patience easily in her fear and anger. "It wasn't the cook. It wasn't the staff. It was someone in this room! I shall repeat myself for the last time. No one leaves. We shall send two people to rummage through every room from top to bottom and bring back the necessary articles of clothing. Everyone else can stay put!"

She took a calming breath and ran her hands through her hair.

"I don't care who it is. Select a pair."

She paced restlessly across the room.

"When this is over, I'm selling this house." she murmured. "I'll live permanently in my New York apartment."

Nodding decisively at this, she turned back to the group, thoroughly composed. "Well, who will it be?"

"Okay fine," Marc said. "Dont' worry about any staff." He turned to face everyone else. "Go get any jacket or coat you have brought with you her to Molly's house."

Everyone complied and they brought in thier coats. To show that he wasn't the killer, Marc went and even got his jacket. One by one he took a small peice of thread from each jacket. After a while of looking at the threads and studying them. Marc found a match.

He walked up Charlie Cain. "Charlie? Is there any reason why this thread matches the same type of thread found from your coat?" He asked.

Charlie opened his mouth to speak but Marc interrupted him, "Better yet, did you kill Vulkie?" Marc asked.
