You may have noticed in the game. That sometimes when you try to interview a suspect for the first time, that they are not home. With lock picking you can open the door.
It will either tell you:
1. Extra suspects
2. Their alibi
This inherently knocks one motive or alibi question you need the suspect of which is the door is closed, less.
