Hi :-)
As a newbie, one of the first screens you meet when you log in, is the case page, and there you may "play the tutorial" to learn about the game. I guess sevral of you have played it?

Now, when that tutorial is played through, there is still a lot more to the game, that one might not know. For myself, I can admit it took me a week or two until I found the message board... Lest understood how the PM system worked...

This contest is about writing a "tutorial 2", for a newbie to play when the first tutorial is played, and perhaps a few cases is tried, to learn more about the game, so that more of the fun will be opened up to the newbie. (oh, well, and the newbie perhaps will be inspired to stay?).

Prize: every contest needs a prize, and the main prize would of course be if Ben would put up the second tutorial on the case page.
Unfortunately, I am not able to force Ben to do so, so.... all I can give is gift subscriptions - unfortunately... What if the contest can run for a month, then we have a week of voting, where everyone may vote on what they think is the best suggestion, and the winner gets 3 months gift sub?
If your suggestion covers more than one post, please number them in a way that will make us understand they go together.

Typo: "I nodded, "Alright, which way is he?" I inquired as Mickey pointed towards the meat freezer. "

Should say, "I nodded, "Alright, which way is he?" I inquired as Dean pointed towards the meat freezer. "

Actually, that might be good for anyone to play. If new unsubscribed people play a tutorial SM, they might better understand how Murder in Manhattan works, and might want to subscribe just to play other SMs! :)

Ups, with such a good contestant, it will hardly be any contest....

So, I hereby take the liberty of "benching" the last entry from Heimlich VonVictor with the "power" of a 3 month gift sub right away. ;-)

Hm... if I were a better writer myself, I am sure I would be able to word it in a more well formulated and tasteful way...

Bottom line being:
Heimlich's entry is moved from the contest to another "division", rewarded as the winner of that division. And, the contest as such continues in the ordinary division, with the promised prize, but without Heimlic's entry.

I hope noone is offended by this slight change during the run of the contest.
- and Heimlich, if YOU WANT to, I may write your intro into the same format as the original intro is written for you, so that it will be a minimum of work for Sleuth Admin to add it (if he wants to).
- unless, of course, you want to put it together using the Scripted Mystery tool? Just give me a hint.

Heim's entry owned. My entry= low-life scum-sucking gutter-crawling never-seen-the-light-of-day malformed rodentia compared to the glory that is Heim's.

So please clarify, is he still being rewarded?

Yes, Heimlich was rewarded. I have already sent him a 3 month gift sub.

That does not restrain him from putting in another entry in the contest if he wants to though...

Actually, there are no limit as to how many entries someone might put in.

Thank you for the reward sub Irene :)

While I would be happy to put it into the SM editor or have you format it like the original intro, I don't know if it would work due to the coding involved with a tutorial mystery due to the hints and other choices being blanked. That's probably something we'd have to talk to Ben or Squirrel about, so probably best to hold off until we hear from them.

Anything that needs 'blanking' or something above and beyond what you'd expect to see in a SM or normal Mystery is in Ben's domain. But 'most' of what I saw could be done within the confines of the normal editor.

Haha, sorry about that Irene, I just couldn't understand what you meant! Glad that's all worked out and such. :3

Molly your entry was great! It had a lot of important things to know, and you shouldn't sell yourself short :)

Yours would be much more valuable to newbies who are learning the ropes than mine would, as mine is more focused in a specific area.
