Do you have what it takes to outlast all others? Do you think you can rise above the rest and stand out as the ultimate contender? Welcome Ladies and Gentlemen to Survivor: Sleuthville!

10 Detectives enter, face off against each other in a different challenge every week, and the last left standing will be crowned Sleuth Noir Survivor! The winner will walk away with a one-year subscription to Sleuth Noir and bragging rights over the entire community. The rules are simple:

1. The first ten Detectives to post an entry will be entered and placed on two teams of five.

2. It's advisable to be subscribed. Some of the challenges may require travel, and if you can't participate, it's likely your team will vote you off at elimination. I won't bar anyone based on this, but it's your call.

3. The losing team at the end of each event will have to vote off one member. To do that each team member will submit a PM to me, which will remain anonymous with the name of the person he or she is voting for, and a short reason why. It can be as simple as-

Name: Heimlich VonVictor
Why: He didn't write any of the poem. It's no wonder we lost!

4. Challenges will be one week long and a winner will be announced at the end, in the event of a tie, a coin will be flipped.

5. Anyone may enter including mods, editors, or even Ben and Sunny themselves if they so choose.

6. The contest will begin when all ten detectives have entered and been placed on teams. It will conclude after nine weeks of elimination challenges.

That's all! Get out there and outwit, outplay, and outlast!

Many veterans have said that they stayed because of the great community we have here. Therefore, the key is to have a lively, ongoing and tighter knit community, to keep long time players interested in Sleuth Noir. We can utilize the message boards to create community based activities which would help keep people interested in returning. As mentioned above, we can host hunts, pageants, games and interesting contests such as the current one Heimlich is hosting. We should have a variety of activities for various types of players (as we are all different), such as writing contests, brainy contests, and some mindless fun ones. Having games and various active message boards is how to keep community spirit alive. If possible, further development on the game itself would also help old timers continue their interests in the game, but as this would require heavy involvement by Sleuth Admin, we have only included this part as game suggestions only.

As a team, we are incorporating and planning many of the suggestions in this proposal into the community as we are writing it. We know as well that it is a matter of what we can do as a community, and need everyone's involvement and input. We welcome everyone reading this proposal to apply some of the suggestion here, or even create more as it inspires you, so that the Sleuth community can benefit from all our contributions as a whole. Thank you for your time in reading this proposal.

Whew, we just made it to the deadline. Thanks to all Lenape tribe members. Couldn't have made it without everyone's wonderful contributions. Especially like to thank Ms. Helen for the background and idea with the Avatars. I hope you all like the proposal and help make Sleuth Noir a great place as it is :)

I guess I've had my head up my a** for the past month and a half. I just now saw this thread and wanted to give a shoutout to Von Victor for an awesome contest!

Thank you Sleuth Sindy! :)

The results are in! While it was once again not unanimous, we do have a winner. The judges have decided to award this challenge to the Lenape Tribe. Here are some snippets from their reasoning:

-Hard as it is, because I would really want Comanche to win this challenge, I still find the Lenape proposal better. Not only did they have more different ideas to put in, but they realize two important points:
1) various players are all different, and therefore have different needs.
2) as a community there is a lot of things we can do to actually make a difference, without having to put all the responsibility on Ben.

- I still miss from both of the tribes something to help catch up and find people who might be different or that might "fall out" on an earlier stage.

-The Lenape's proposal seemed to focus on already gone veterans not HOW to keep current veterans OR on things that are attainable in the game already.

-The Comanche's actually address a way for the community to keep the veterans active, by coming up with the Contest Moderator/Organizer to keep the contests/games current each year.

- The idea of a secret society is interesting, but when listing the “rules”, [Comanche] go on telling it’s going to be an exclusive club for 10 mill+ exp detectives, and that they would like to have benefits that Ben mostly has denied people in the game.

-Competitions are not for everyone, but the fact that [Lenape] want variations to the competitions is great. It will perhaps bring/enable competitions that less competitive people might find interesting as well.

-The main reason I didn't cast my vote for the Comanche Tribe is the Secret Society Agency. This new Agency will deter away from the ones that have already worked hard to get their gate key and no longer need to do the puzzle. Also it will deter away from the ones that work hard everyday to be head faction leader to unclam one suspect.

-I am not too keen on having a Moderator be in charge of contests that are held. I think each individual that puts a contest on should be responsible and mature enough to take whatever criticism they get and the mods are there if things get out of hand.

-The Lenapes, incorporate a lot of great ideas, and without handing things to people. They people still have to work hard for what they want.

-I love [Lenape's] idea of sending out emails to all the vets/old players that have left. And it shouldn't be too hard for ben to send an automated email out, as everyone gives their email when signing up. This will, for a fact entice the oldies to come back and pop in and see the happenings of the game and who is still here and who is new.

-I do like the comanche idea that a mod should play social co-ordinator. [There] should at least be a bit of a plan about when comps are going to come up. Some sort of calendar.

- I'm particularly enamoured with the idea that someone should get off their ass and produce this newsletter.

-I think Lenapes generally came up with more, even if they have kind of cherry-picked the HLI thread.

Great ideas everyone! When I read the proposals, I even said that I'm glad I wasn't judging this week, because I absolutely loved both proposals. Comanche, please PM me your votes within 24 hours.

Stay tuned for a special announcement.

Welcome Comanche tribe to your fourth elimination. I was really hoping that you would be able to pull it off this week, but it looks like it was not to be. The votes have been tallied. The person who will leave the island tonight is... miss snopes.

miss snopes, it looks like you've fallen prey to our mysterious contestant kidnapper as well, and your fellow contestants noticed. We wish you the best and hope everything is alright. Miss snopes, the tribe has spoken, and it looks like you're being sent home. So we'll give you a little traveling music. This one's for you:

Special Announcement-

As many of our contestants (and my intended judges) are in America and going to be celebrating Thanksgiving next week, the contest will go on hiatus until Monday, November 30th. As it is the busiest travel time in America, I don't know how available our contestants will be. I also don't think it would be fair to make our judges work during time when they may have to prepare for the holiday.

To tide you over, and give everyone a big hint. I will reveal the name of the next challenge: Domum ex Domus

See you all on November 30th!
