How do I get the research skill to research my case in City Hall? I once had briefcase but sold it. Did that have anything to do with it?

And no, the briefcase has absolutely bupkus to do with the Research skill. It's just one of scads of possible pieces of equipment you can have for your detective.

(Been suggested that we tie the Briefcase in with it, but we have 'bout 3 different briefcases, and then there's the problem of what to do with all the other people who don't HAVE a briefcase. And then we'd need to readjust the point values on all of 'em. Ick. I can feel the migraine growin' already, and I'm not even a programmer. ;-)
