I was finally there after the drudging two hours drive on the lifeless road. The lone mansion in the middle of the Arabian Desert loomed into the dark clouded sky. Shimmering with an unnatural glow, the white walls of the four-storey building spoke of money and taste. The sun had already set and the chill of the night began to feel as excruciating as the baking heat of the day. I got out of my old rented Buick and walked to the front door, my new heals making the only sound to be heard from miles on end.

This is my first case here in Cairo, and I was on my own. My parents had questioned my sanity of going away from London, to a messy and lawless city in Egypt of all places. "You can still be a detective here, my darling." My mother said. True, but I would always remain a gumshoe, a young girl swimming in a pool full of experienced detectives. In Cairo, I was somebody. The agency that hired me didn't have enough staff to go around, so I was put in charge of cases by myself, and no one would question my lack of experience.

I combed my fingers through my long straight hair and tugged in my shirt, then I took a deep breath and rang the doorbell. A deep lovely chime was heard on the other side of the door, but I waited for minutes and no one answered. I reviewed my case file again. Someone called in and said that his father died in bed, but he felt there was more to the story. He asked for a detective and gave us this address. That was it. My agency director thought this would be an easy case and handed it over to me. I closed the file and rang the door a few more times. Again, there was no answer. I tried for the handle, and yes, it was unlocked. I decided to let myself in.

((This is a first person collaborative story. Please continue to play the part of the same girl, as she's the only main character in the story. Feel free to improvise and enjoy!!))

But I didn't have a light. My only thing I had was a lipstick and the only thing I could use it for,was to make a scary face. I quickly made a decision and decided to investigate a sound.

I silently opened the door, which peeped a bit when it opened and I let the door open.

Step for step,I went towards the stairs and there I saw it. The door, busted open, with some kind of monster in the opening of the mansion doors.

I almost screamed, when someone pulled a hand before my mouth and dragged me back.

"It's me miss." the butler whispered and I immediately became calm, knowing that he just saved my life.

"What was that thing?" I whispered and the butler began to shiver (srry for my other "shiffer",just looked up the word).

"It's the curse Miss Evans. The one I told you a bit about. But you didn't want an explanation, just yet" the butler whispered and just as the butler finished that question,I heard steps on the stairs.

"My god,it's coming upstairs. He knows we're here" I almost screamed and the butler yelled : "Follow me!" and so,the chase around the mansion began. The monster was quick,he was almost gaining on me,when I knocked a clock to the ground, blocking his way for 3 seconds, but he jumped over it. Those 3 seconds gave me my life back, because the butler opened a secret passway and led me into it and closed it just in time, because a second later, the monster would've eaten us up.

"What the hell is that thing!" I yelled and I heard the monster scratching on the door.

And so,the butler began to explain...
