Place: Docks
Time: 11:30 p.m.
Weather: Freezing cold

"What the heck am I doing here?", the woman muttered under her breath. She let out a deep sigh, seeing something similar to fog coming out of her lips. It was a very cold night, indeed. The dark-haired, Italian-looking woman looked at her pocket watch.

"Late, as usual", she stated to herself, since she was alone. She had the habit of talking to herself. It helped her put ideas on the right places. And, as a bonus, helped her feel less lonely.

"You know, girl, you should never have agreed to meet him. But yet you did. Why? Because you're stupid."

She shook her head. No. It had nothing to do with stupidity. Or the feelings she had to admit she still had, partially. It was the box. The box with some of her things he still held with him. He had it, she needed it. That sounds like a pretty good reason for an encounter. An encounter, not a date, by the way. Dating time was over.

"You should be resting, Tina", she told herself. She usually gave herself pretty good advice. She never followed it, though. Another look at the watch. It reminded her. It had been a gift from him. She'd better return it. She let out a tired sigh. "I'll be here by ten. Yeah, right. When hell freezes over."

She was considering the idea of leaving when she heard footsteps. HIS footsteps, unmistakeable. She had to fight the temptation to jump on his neck with a tight hug, like before. She simply held out her hand and nodded. She didn't trust herself to speak right at the moment.

[P.S.: I don't have a big plan, and I know it's not perfect, but I'd love if someone joined. I promise I won't forget to check it out. lol]

Finally. Joe was finally back to the world of the living. Valentina squeezed his hand almost lovingly - almost? Perhaps. He had been out for three days, and lost a lot of blood. There were moments when she thought she'd lose him. But she couldn't. Not again. This time, she wouldn't let him go.

As soon as he could figure who and where he was, Tina excused herself in order to call Vulkie. She needed to reassure her friend that things were fine. She waited for Vulkie to pick up and almost shouted when she did.

- Hey, V. Just called to say we're fine. Joe is up now. He's sort of weak, and I'll try and keep him quiet. Drop by whenever you can, 'kay? Gotta go.

She hung up and went back to the chair by Zeo's bed, leaning down and kissing his hand.

- Never scare me like that again. If you do, I'll kill you myself.

((no worries Vulkie, you're getting better and better at it. writing in the third person format is very different, but it does enhance the story and makes it easier to read for all. another few more posts and you'll be riding it like a bike))

Vulkie picked up the phone in her safe house and remained silent.

"We're alright." The voice of Zeo come to Vulkie from the receiver; she was delighted and laughed for the first time in days. "After we talked on the phone the last time, Domino's men came to the hospital, gave the place a blood bath..."

"Yes, I've seen it with my own eyes..." Vulkie replied.

"We wanted to leave you a note but time was cut short by more 'back ups'. The longer we stayed in the hospital, the more innocent people dies, so we took off." Zeo explained. "Besides, it's best that we keep our whereabouts secret. I rekon that you'd return to your safe house."

Vulkie agreed and went on to reveal to Zeo what she found out from the interrogation.

"Domino hiding in Costa Rica from us? Smells like a trap to me." Zeo concluded. "Damn right that he should be afraid of us, because we'll certainly avenge the death of Tina's sister, but Limon is his turf. What's more, I'm sure the greedy fatso have not forgotten about Tina's "key" to U.S. classified information on Cuban intelligence. Walking into that country unprepared would be like handing him the wooden sculpture on a silver platter. Let me talk to Tina, we'll meet back at your place in an hour's time." (cont'd)

On their way to Vulkie's safe house, D'Angeli and Zeo went into a long discussion. Tina finally revealed that she had been doing some detective work for the government. Two years ago when she decided on her 'new life' and with her sister's illness, she needed as much support as she could muster. In her new agency she was required to do some U.S. government's 'dirty laundry', including keeping some confidential files safe.

"The sculpture is too much of a beacon. Can someone at your agency keep it safe for the moment?" Zeo asked.

"I had entrusted it to the most capable hand two years ago," D'Angeli smiled, "but yes, if the need is there, my agency can conceal it for a while."

"Good, in that case. We can hunt down Domino without worrying about it. Your sister shall not die in vain." Zeo stated as they climbed up porch to Vulkie's front door.

"Fiorella..." D'Angeli muttered. Tears began to well up in her eyes again. Zeo stopped and held Tina's head in both his palms. She eyes were like melancholic stars in the night sky.

"Shhh, it's gonna be alright." Joseph said softly. "We'll go to Costa Rica prepared. The Key will be safe here in this city; we'll have Domino regret the day he lays his hand on you and your family." Tina buried her head in Joseph's shoulder. The pain was fire burning through his wound, but Joseph stood still and kissed Tina's hair.

They'd all have sufficient time to recover on the ship, Zeo rekoned. It would take close to a week to travel to Costa Rica.

As Joseph and Valentina arrived at Vulkie's apartment, they pulled up on the porch before Vulkie's apartment and walked upstairs. Valentina knocked three times on the door.

Just as Vulkie made some dinner, she heard three knocks. "That must be them." Vulkie thought. She cocked her gun, just in case.

And so,Vulkie turned the key carefully and opened the door.

"Hi Joseph,hi Valentina. Have some dinner, please,I made sufficient for the three of us" Vulkie said and so they went up,eating dinner.

"I've already been to the bank and bought us the tickets for the trip. We can go towards Costa Rica safely."

"Also", as Vulkie explained and grabbed some tommy guns and ammo, "I've taken care of weapons. We can easily smuggle them into our suitcases, since I bribed one of the pursers" Vulkie said.

"Thanks" Valentina muttered and Vulkie knew of what she was thinking. Revenge was close, only a week away.

"When we arrive in Costa Rica,I have a contact ready there. An old friend of mine,Camille Leonidas. She's from my dad's old days. She worked for my dad, before retiring to Costa Rica. If anyone knows where Domino can hide, that would be Camille. She has been there for almost 20 full years." Vulkie said.

And so,the trio went on the boat trip, after dropping of the sculpture with Valentina's agency. Vampiric Smile gladly stored it in the safe and so the trio departed to Costa Rica....

"One week later".....

Joseph cleared up from the sea air. And Valentina enjoyed staying with Joseph alongside. The only thing that bothered Vulkie, were haunting memories of her previous cases. Her brother, dead, Anais Nin's sister Lisette, dead. After all,she couldn't have saved Lisette, but Anais took revenge by killing Father Manfred after all (see Mysterious Appearance for reference, also Golden).

The only person that cared really about Vulkie, her brother Leonard, was murdered by that same priest,Father Manfred. But Vulkie showed temper, and patience....

"What're ya thinking of Vulkie?" Joseph said, strolling on the deck. "Nothing" Vulkie replied. She didn't want to make Joseph think of those moments again....

"Signores é Signoritas, bienvenido a Costa Rica." the speaker said.

And there,on the docks, stood our contact,Camille. My,has she changed,Vulkie thought. Camille was 50 when she retired and now she was 70. But still, she dyed her hair and looked well fed.

"Cómo estás Camille" Vulkie said,in her best spanish. "Bueno Vulkie,Bueno" Camille replied. "I see you still haven't changed anything. My,have you grown. Care to introduce your friends?" Camille said,as Joseph and Valentina came strolling from the boat.

"This is Joseph", as Vulkie pointed to Joseph, "And this is Valentina."

"Bienvenido" Camille said and shaked Joseph's and Valentina's hands.

And so, the four of them travelled towards a small house, which Camille owned....

Being bred and born in New York, Zeo didn't speak a word in Spanish. He was so glad Vulkie found someone who could show them the ropes. Costa Rica was very hot even in winter, so dry season, they call it.

Puerto Limon looked sunny and peaceful on the surface, but from what Camille told the three new comers, gang rivalry has escalated drastically since the unrest in Brazil.

"Domino is like a King here in Limon, amigo en las buenas, it will take quite a bit of art and courage to pull this through." Camille warned. "He is currently in hiding, but I know the few villa he owns. He will either be in his seaside cottage or the mansion secluded in the hills. Which one it is I am not sure, because he kept both heavily guarded."

"You mean one of them could just be a decoy." Zeo asked, frowning.

"Si." Camille nodded.

"Well, we'll find way to find out." Vulkie said.

"We better do that, because it's no good to walk into a trap." This will end soon, Zeo knew, but whether it was Domino's life or their, that he was not so certain.

"Let me think." Vulkie said and she began thinking. Which one was the obvious one Domino would be hiding in? "The seaside cottage, what are the escape ways possible Camille?"

"A seaplane and a boat. Also, the car could be possible." Camille replied

"And the Mansion in the hills?" Vulkie asked

"That would be by car, possibly a helicopter if he has one,I'm not sure and the underground ways towards the city." Camille replied

This was difficult. Both places had enough escape ways, but which one would Domino prefer....

"I got it,he must be hiding in the mansion secluded in the hills. You want to know why? It's hard to reach,Domino has enough time to think of an escape through the underground ways and has business appointments there" Vulkie replied.

"Bueno thinking Vulkie" Camille replied. "Domino indeed has business meetings there, with powerful people. And business must continue,so he won't be in his seaside cottage. Tell you what Vulkie. I got a plan..." Camille replied.

The plan was, that some amigos of her, went to the seaside cottage and tried to seduce the guards (Female amigos). Then, they would try to bring them down or at least shoot them down. After the phonecall,we would immediately go to the mansion

After they checked the seaside cottage, they would phone us with the info.

"A few hours later"

Ring,Ring.... Vulkie picked up the phone. "Si?" Vulkie replied. She listened to the explaination of one of Camille's amigos.

"Bueno. Gracias." and Vulkie hung up the phone.

"Seems I was right. He is in the secluded mansion." Vulkie replied. "The cottage was abandoned and the guards were easily seduced, because they hated being there while no one was in the house." Vulkie said.

And so,the four of them went to the secluded mansion in the hills....

As they made their way to Costa Rica, Valentina had spent most of the time around Joseph and Vulkie, though she spoke very little. She could feel her heart pounding in anger every time she thought of Domino, and bleeding in pain whenever she remembered her dear Fiorella.

If any of her two friends asked what was the matter, Tina would answer with a sigh and her usual way of shaking her head meaning nothing was wrong. Which was a lie. There were a lot of wrong things going on with Tina, both her body and her mind.

It wasn't hard to immagine what was going on inside Tina's head. All those things happening on the same time - Domino, Fiore, Vulkie, Joseph... - made a complete mess on her mind, and it was now starting to affect her physically.

In the last two days of the trip, it wasn't only rage and sadness that flooded Tina's chest. It was pain, too. Physical pain. A sharp pain that sometimes spread quickly across her body and went away as suddenly as it had started.

But not this time. This time, as they went up the hills to Domino's mansion, the pain just got bigger, taking more room and spreading to her arm. She wasn't breathing properly either, which made her slow down. She had the vague impression of hearing a "What's wrong?", but wasn't sure who had said it.

"Nothing", she answered, as she sat down. "Just... keep going. I'll catch up with you soon".
