either that's some kinda Spanish hotdog or it's happy / merry? 5th of May.
Is the 5th of May a special day somewhere?

Cinco de Mayo means 5th of May in Spanish, and is a regional holiday in Mexico - it isn't a "federal obligatory holiday" in Mexico, but a holiday that can be observed voluntarily :)

It celebrates a victory of the Mexican army over Napolean's, i think. And quite a few of us north of the border think it's a great excuse to break out the mexican food and tequila. Bottoms up, as it were!

Yes, luc, Cinco de Mayo celebrates one of 2 Mexican independence days.
5th of May is independence from France and independence from Spain is celebrated in Sept.
There is a huge Mexican population in Chicago and Cinco de Mayo is celebrated like our 4th of July here with parades, backyard barbeques, and, of course, a lot of drinking. Yee Haa!!
