what can you do when you know who did it, but they don't have a motive and all the other characters won't talk.

I have a character with a fake alibi and a witness pointing to them. But, no motive.

Help...

Surveillance CAN work once in a case, but it's not 100% in guaranteeing that it will work. In other words, it's not foolproof.

As for the faction head-it's not second in command, essentiall you need to be the highest person in terms of standing points with them before turnover. Higher than any other sleuther that is also aligned with that faction. This special skill can only be used once a day and will only work on the suspects, not the townies.

As for your second post Joey, lets say I stored a case and I had clammed suspects in the case. Another one of my agency mates can take the case and open it in hopes of unclamming suspects. They only way they'd be able to help is to either use surveillance , which will give them 2 more questions out of a suspect OR upon opening the case, in red there will be one or two at most names in read saying that those names look familiar and that they'd worked with them before and they might be able to help them answer some questions. If they get those red names upon opening the case, then they can go to those two people and question them and unclam them. Then store the case back in the file for me to take back.

Hope that clears things up for you.

Well, Jas...thank you very much, but everything was actually clear to me, besides the fact that surveillance has a failure chance. I did though point out that all info I had about this skill came from an external source and not from personal experience. I also admit that sometimes I do not manage to say clearly what i wish in English.

About the faction help...by "second in command" I meant exactly what you described, considering that the first in command in any faction is actually the NPC.

Regarding my second post, what I was describing were the names in red that MAY OPEN when someone else opens the case. As I said, that doesn't happen often and you have no control over which suspect is unclammed, so it's not a reliable method, but it can, by luck, bring light into a case.

Now, since you brought up the idea of someone else using surveillance on your case, another question is raised: since you can only use surveillance once per case, can another detective use it in a case where you used it already?

Nope, only once per case. If I use surveillance and it fails, another person cannot open the case and use they're surveillance as it's already been used once on the case.

All clear now. Thanks.
