Had a bit of an 'oops' come up. Over the last 2 weeks, I"ve been dealing with a rather excruciating migraine. Standard meds have done little to help. After several trips to the E.R., I suffered a fall and blow to my head, and briefly passed out. After extensive tests, MRIs and CAT scans, the doctors found a small thrombosis, or blood clot, in my brain.

I've had a stroke.

I was released from the hospital yesterday, and am now recovering at home. The doctors are treating the stroke aggressively, and working very hard to prevent a repeat occurrence. I have a great medical team, and my family has been wonderful through all of this.

I greatly appreciate all of your encouragement and support. It's going to take time for me to get back on my feet, and your interest and caring will be invaluable to me. I thank you for that!!

Hope all of you are doing well. Again, thank you. ;-)

Have a bit of an update. Went to my doctor today. She's very pleased with my progress. She upped the dosage on a couple of my meds, and downed the dosage on a couple others. She wants me to get an mri of my cervical and lumbar spine, and wrote out a presciption for two months of physical and occupational therapy. I go back to see her in a month. Also had a blood test today. All is normal with that. All in all, a good day. ;-)

Thank you, Biggie and Kirstie!!

A note on the latest....

Yesterday and the day before were the first two days since this whole thing started when I didn't need ANY pain medication--absolutely none. YYYAAAAYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!! I went to bed incredibly stoked last night!! Woke up this morning. Guess what? You got it--migraine's back. *sigh* Oh well, I had two great days!! Been dealing with the insurance company about the MRI and the OT/PT, hope to have that figured out by the end of the week (don'tcha just LUUVVV insurance companies?? ;-). Other than that, I tackled my first AI case earlier this weekend, and managed to solve it. Been working on them off and on since then. They tend to tire me out a bit more, but they seem to help with my ability to think. YAY!! All in all, not a bad week!! ;-D

Breit, after a series of seizures I found I had difficulty focusing too. Crossword puzzles helped straighten my head out, and the best part is you can lay them down anytime you want and pick up right where you left off. I rarely have migrains anymore...maybe the puzzles help I don't know.
You can print really good ones off the net.

When you don't exercise your body, you get lumpy, bumpy, saggy, and tired.

When you don't exercise your brain, it gets forgetful and unfocused.

So, indeed, crossword puzzles and AI cases and anything else that makes you THINK is definitely going to help your memory and focus. As far as helping the migraines? I don't know, but maybe it depends on why you have the migraine to begin with. Sophie, I'm glad that you're doing better.

Breit, hang in there. Seems that you are recovering nicely and, with any luck, that blasted migraine will soon disappear for good! Never to return... or I'll beat it up, I swear. *HUG*
