What you drive tells something about you. Even if you drive a hoopdee, you chose it. What was your first car? What do you drive now?

My first car was a 2-door, 1962 Olds Cutlass F-85. It was parked in my neighbors field. I paid $50 for it, replaced the universal in the drive line and drove it away. I called it "La Bamba." If you stepped on the gas pedal to quick it went right to the floor and with that aluminum block engine it went from zero to 60 in the bat of an eye, slip it to neutral and the pedal popped back up. I put a $300 stereo in it that I had to take out whenever I parked it because I didn't a have key for the the doors. the trunk was wired shut with bailing wire. I loved that car.

Today I drive a 2005 Ford Ranger 4x4 XL off-road P/U . It stands kinda tall so I use the running boards to climb into it :-)

First car: 1987 Honda Accord LX (Bronzish/Gold color) that was passed down to me. It was automatic windows, locks, cruise control. Even the ignition area lit up when you turned the lights on :D . Unfortunately the breaks went out on it at almost 300,000 miles. *sniff*

Current Car: 1998 Ford Escort LX (Purple). No auto windows or locks *sigh* but thats ok. I paid $2800 cash for it, so at least I have no car payments to make :D She's my baby!

I know this is not on topic but I'm old so I get to do these things.

The car I really want is a Toyota Prius. Those cute little hybrid cars.

To the amazement (lol disgust) of friends and family alike my first car is my current car. My very humble 1987 Nissan Pulsar, which I bought from a little old lady who really only did drive it to Church on Sundays has been flogged to death, has had numerous kids from youth groups learn to drive in it (and has the dings to prove it), been weighed down to the axles with all manner of camping equipment and gone up a mountain backwards. It's commonly referred to as the 'magic hatch' coz of how much crap such a tiny car can fit in it :) I don't drive it much anymore. I try to walk and ride everywhere if I can. But I love it. And she''ll (it's a girl car) have to die a grisly death before I get rid of her.

Nice thread Sophie :)

Well I am not allowed to drive but... my friend's shop project is a little push cart for two kids. But they live out of the country so I'll be commandeering it to my own uses. I'll be taking it down an asphalt road down a big hill with lots of turn.
The pro's:
-free
-no fuel costs (GRAVITY!)
-no pollution (see above)
-the ladies love it :P

The con's:
-no brakes
-no steering
-no airbags

It's all good, yoyo... brakes and steering are highly overrated. I learned to drive in NYC, which is how I know that. :-D

First vehicle was a 1991 Chevy S-10 2wheel drive pickup. It ate alternators like popcorn. I lost the front bumper sliding into another vehicle's trailer hitch and had it replaced with an offroad style pipe bumper. I caught hell from my buddies for having an offroad bumper on a 2WD, but it was perfect for tying off a rappel line (with a backup line to the axle). I went many places that an older wiser me would never take a 4-wd truck.

Now I have a 1998 Honda Passport 4wd that's never been offroad.

My first car was a 1984 white Camaro with T-tops! It was beautiful...i had it all decked out, tinted windows...ground effects, the works :) Now, I have a 1999 Dodge Durango...and of course, with dark tinted windows :)

Well technically my first car was a Pinto hatchback you know the one that could blow up if hit from behind, but I never really got it.My Dad and stepmom broke up and she took it.So my first car was a Datsun station wagon I think somewhere around 70 something. It was green with other colors where they had replaced sections.I have to say that I met my husband with that car.It needed a tune up and I was coming out of a drivethru and it died.He was with some other friends and they pushed it into a parking space. When we saw each other face to face I knew it was love at first sight. We have been together for 24 years and married for 22.Well to get back on the subject. My car now is a '96 Cavalier. It is white and I have had it since new.
