Gopher to the Sleuth Gods

Do you ever make up your own words to songs? How about while you’re Sleuthing? Now’s your chance to show off your song writing talent. The rules:

All songs must be a parody of a Beatle song. They must also be in keeping with our Noir theme. The original title must be at the top so judges will know which tune to “sing by.” You can have your own title too just put the original in “( )”

The contest ends at the last server moment of the leap day, February 29. So March is too late.
Judges will be Anikka, Lady Jas, and myself.

Prizes are : 1st place - an AVH reward plus 100K sleuth dollars
2nd place- Choice of an AVH reward or 100k sleuth dollars.

Entry Example:

(Help)
Help, you know I need somebody,
Help, I just saw a body,
Help, you know I need a Sleuth,
Heeelllp!

When I was going out, only yesterday,
I nearly fell over a body propped up in my way,
There was blood spilt all over the floor,
I screamed and ran back, slamming shut my door.

Help me if you can I feel afraid,
And I don't want to go to my grave,
Help, I think I may be next,
Wont you please, please help me?

lol - now *that's* what I wanted to do with my Sunday afternoon!

I don't think I need to include the title with this one...

When I get older, losing my hair
Many years from now,
Will I still be sharp enough to take the case?
Grill those townies, get in their face?
Pounding the pavements, knocking on doors
Old joints feeling sore.
Will I still make it, will I still take it
When I’m sixty-four?

Contacts grow old too.
And if their eyesight goes,
I'll need someone new.

I could retire, give up the case,
Let those villains be,
Trade the sailor pantsuit for a dressing gown,
Put my fan and parasol down.
Sipping martinis, backing Old Tom,
Strolling by the shore.
Will I still make it, will I still take it,
When I’m sixty-four?

Every summer I will take a holiday in Shangri La
With those friendly monks
Learning to steep tea.
Scholars on lonely trails,
Mountain, Toe and Sea.

It won’t be easy, making the grade
When I’m slowing down.
Murderers get younger as your hair gets grey.
Flirting powers wasting away.
Still I’ll stick with it, hunting them down
Till the final score.
Will I still make it, will I still take it
When I’m sixty-four?

Great idea for a contest Sophie, I normally don't enter this early but I couldn't wait to write this one.

To the tune of "Hey Jude" and for your entertainment pleasure, I present "Hey Ben"

Hey Ben, don't make it hard
I got a case here, to find the killer
I Remember to ask for all the motives
Then I can start to find the killer.

Hey Ben, don't make it easy
I was made, to solve a murder
The minute, I open up the crime scene
Then I begin to find the killer

At the scene I found three hairs, hey Ben, no fair
Don't tell me four suspects were with the Barber
For well I know that its the Banker who is my anchor
by answering each and every question

Na na na na na na na na na

Hey Ben, I matched a hair
I have found her, now go and get her.
I Remember, to ask for her alibi
Then I can start to catch the killer

So she hasn't ran and fled, Hey Ben, she's dead
Now I've found someone to match the next hair
And dont you know he looks like you, Hey Ben, you'll do
The thing I need is where you were at

Na na na na na na na na na

Hey Ben, now this looks bad
I don't believe it, but you're the killer
She forgot two birthdays in a row
Then you began to be a
killer killer killer killer killer killer, oh

Na na na na na na , na na na, hey Ben.

Na na na na na na, na na na, hey Ben.

Na na na na na na, na na na, hey Ben.

Wow! The first two entries have really set the bar for the rest of us!

Here's my effort with the Sleuth version of Penny Lane:

In Penny Lane there is a barber in a quandary:
His best friend has been discovered in a ditch.
And the gossip from the local snitch:
He was very rich.

By the body was a footprint and a greasy hair,
So the question is to whom do they belong?
Must be careful not to get it wrong,
Or it won't be long, 'til I'm gone.

Penny Lane is full of mystery and crime.
Underneath the streetlights - in the grime
I sit and take my time

To think about the suspects who could all have murdered him.
Every one of them could use some extra cash.
Very easy - give the head a bash;
Dump him in the trash.

Penny Lane is full of intrigue and suspense.
My friend, the barber's getting rather tense
I must start making sense

Of all the evidence, the motives and the alibis
That are prevalent throughout this gruesome case.
There's a killer but I cannot see their face;
I could be disgraced.

In Penny Lane the barber taps his foot impatiently,
And I notice the peculiar shoes he wears.
From my pocket I pull out compares,
Catch him unawares, then he swears.

Penny Lane has seen a most unusual crime.
Surely this must be the only time
The perp's a friend of mine.
Penny Lane was where the barber took his chance:
Killed his DAD for the inheritance.
Penny Lane.

Sorry to pinch your song, SS.

There must be room for 2 Penny Lane's in this Sleuth world of ours, though!

Ok, have never done any thing like this in my life so, i'm just gonna slide it under the door and run.

Yesterday

Yesterday, all my work was filed away
Not one case left round here to play
Have to wait another day

Suddenly, that FA crept up on me
Shady man is hanging over me
Oh that FA came suddenly

Why I had to press I don’t know
But IT WAS RIGHT
I did something wrong
Now I know I pay the price

Yesterday, Sleuth was such an easy game to play
But that FA, which just wont go away
Has left me with a debt to pay

Shall I pay or what, I don’t know it’s hard to say
Shall I wait awhile, or go straight ahead and pay

Yesterday, all my work was filed away
But that FA is clearly here to stay
I’ll pay the price another day.

(I dont have an Fa, but have had and the dilemma :)

These have been great, and I couldn't let my double be in teh fun by himself. So here is my sleutherized version of "We All Live in A Yellow Submarine" I hope you all enjoy!

In a place where some hang out
Lives a man who clears your name
And we know its best to pay
In the back of Taj Masion

Now we've all went to see him there
after false accusations
and we found him by himself
In the back of Taj Masion

Shady is the best in the back of Taj Masion,
the back of Taj Masion, the back of Taj Masion,
Shady is the best in the back of Taj Masion,
the back of Taj Masion, the back of Taj Masion.

Now our falses are all cleared
We hope to never see no more
Or else we'll hear someone say

(Trumpets Play)

Shady is the best in the back of Taj Masion,
the back of Taj Masion, the back of Taj Masion,
Shady is the best in the back of Taj Masion,
the back of Taj Masion, the back of Taj Masion.

(Pay right away, young detective, pay right away!
Pay right over here now!
Shady's here! Shady's here!
Yes,yes, right here!
Money! Money!)

As we all began to learn
Every one of us, has had to pay.
Made a false accusation
and went to the back of Taj Masion

Shady is the best in the back of Taj Masion,
the back of Taj Masion, the back of Taj Masion,
Shady is the best in the back of Taj Masion,
the back of Taj Masion, the back of Taj Masion.

(It's been a hard day's night)

It's been a hard day's night,
And I've been working like a dog,
It's been a hard day's night,
all day chasing Villains abroad,
But when I get close to them,
I find the things that they do,
Will make me feel alright.

You know I work all day,
To get the satisfaction of biting them,
And it's worth it just to hear them pray,
As the oblivion approaches them,
So why on earth should I moan,
'Cos when I get them alone,
I know I feel okay.

When I arrest them ev'rything seems to be right,
When I cuff them feeling I am holding them
Tight, tight, yeh.

It's been a hard day's night,
And I've been working like a dog,
It's been a hard day's night,
all day chasing Villains abroad,
But when I get close to them,
