Hello,

The old email address that we used to receive new avatars is now so overrun by spam as to be pretty useless.

So, from now on, please send any pictures you would like to use for your detective avatar to this address:
sleuth.avatars@gmail.com

The rules:
1) This offer is only open to current subscribers.
2) Portrait photos only. No cartoons, illustrations, full body shots, etc.
3) Try to stick with the style of the game.
4) We reserve the right to refuse to post avatar images for any reason. The most common reasons we refuse are:

It can take up to six weeks to turn around avatars, so please don't freak out if you don't hear back right away.

If you sent an avatar to the old address that has not yet been posted, please resend it to this address.

Thank you! (And thanks to the volunteer avatar wranglers who help get these prepared and posted).

How long did you have to wait Jas? The reason why I'm getting impatiant is because my subscription might expire before Admin wipes the Cheeto crumbs off his shirt and get to it.

If nonsubscribed sleuths could submit requests, I would make about four of them (and never play as them) with avatar demands to meet the x amount the batch needs, since it may take awhile due to the fact that this game hasn't achieved World of Warcraft status as far as popularity.

And for that matter, why does it have to be in batches?

yawns. seriously I'm SO tired. anyway. you can tell when I send them to Ben, I tell everyone here. i usually start looking at the next batch when ben posts the new one. I recognise that can create some lag in itself. doing them individually only increases (a) the likelihood someone will be missed, and (b) the chances of them going astray post me sending them to ben. lastly, it's not a part of the subscription. ultimately, coz the moans far outweigh the thanks in volume and content, it would be easier not to have them so no-one needed to to complain about them not happening. all those in favour of stripping all the players avatars back to the generic 16? please say aye!

they paved paradise and put up a parking lot...

Actually, Clint.. They dont have to do it at all...and remember, the admin have lives outside this game, and it IS a busy time of year so.....just be thankful there is even a SLEUTH to play. You can live with, and play with the avater you have now, it doesnt effect your game playing. Be patient...because as I said, choosing the pic you want as an avater doesnt even have to happen at all.

....and so what that it doesnt have the popularity of world of warcraft...I havent heard of that game (and doesnt sound like it would be of interest to me) but...Sleuth is a dear game to most who have been here for a long time...and to me, in MY opinion, that outweighs the popularity contest.

Be happy and appreciative of what ya got.....and be lucky there are even people who take time out to collect your pic requests, and send them on.

I for one would like to thank the lovely staff who have given us the option of our own personal avatars.

I am okay with waiting for mine.

Just to chime in here,

I think SS put it perfectly"

It's not part of the subscription!

I don't honestly remember how long I waited for any of mine, but do remeber that I wasn't worried about it, the game has so much more to offer than me seeing a custom avatar

I'm gonna jump in here and say what I think.

Even though what everyone said does make sense, and gave their very valid and reasonable arguments, everyone who said it already has their own custom avatar.

It is easier to say that when you've already got it you see.

I think Clint has made some very valid points and some hillarious ones in his previous posts.

To someone who doesn't have his custom avatar, it seems more like a right of passage than anything else. As in, real, old genuine members of the community all have them... and those that don't are known for not having them they're so few.

You guys are all immediately recognisable without having to read your name.

I honestly didn't know it was a free service, I though it was an entitlement, but as you put it, and seeing that it is free ONLY if you're subbed, I won't complain -don't think I ever really did to begin with.

Yet, I do promise to be VERY thankful when it does come through, as I am right now.

In this game we have one Sleuth God who is able to do the final magic to make avatars come alive. He is known under many names, and I do think you understand who I mean.
Then we have a number of servants, and Secret Squirrel is one of them, who probably pay their subscriptions as all our others do, as well as serve the community with their spare time to improve the experience for all of us.
When we had wanted the avatar changing process to go faster, there is therefore two parties to target. The Servant, or the Sleuth God.
I think we all recognize that the reason for the delay in the process have very little to do with the Servant. But then, who dares to target the Sleuth God? Because what evil could happen if the Sleuth God goes mad? He is allmighty, and we are everyone so dependent on him offering us a game that actually stay online...
So perhaps the best thing we can do are waiting patiently?
- and try to remember that even though the Servant showes up faithfully, he is still just a Servant and not responsible for the actions (or the lack of actions) from the Sleuth God.
- and besides, what I have seen of the work the Servant have done, I do think he is doing a wonderful job.

Understand what you are saying Clift....you're right, we do already have our custom avater BUT, we had to put a request in just like everyone else, and we waited just like everyone else. :)
