My aunt passed away yesterday. I was able to go see her this past week to say good-bye, tell her I love her and thanks for everything she's done for me before she passed on. I'm so glad I was able to do this.

My aunt was the type of person who always had time to listen - even to total strangers. She made a house a home. When I was a child she was a big part of my life as my mother was a single mom who worked as a nurse - which means she worked A LOT. I already miss her, but I believe she has gone on to something better, as did she, and I will see her again.

I'm sure many of you have people who were a major influence in your life and have gone on ahead of us. If so, you may like to share with us what a wonderful person he or she was.

My condolences for your loss Sindy.
My grandpa was the most important person in the world to me. I lost him several years back but still have some wonderful memories of him. Every July 4th, him and me would be up bright and early cooking ribs for the holiday BBQ. He had a secret ingedient in the marinade that he refused to tell anyone. Several years before he passed, he divulged the secret to me so I continue the tradition of the BBQ by doing the cooking myself. I think about him pretty much everyday and know he's watching over me on the 4th when I'm cooking the ribs and even from the grave he still has a way to get the smoke from the grill to blow in my face! :-)

Unfortunately now, 3 years later, it looks like I will be losing my grams soon and am making extra special effort to spend as much time with her as I can. It does give me comfort that he will be up there waiting for her!

Thanks for starting this thread!
