Villain Hunts Too Expensive?

I just wanted to vent about something that has peeved me just a little bit for a while. I enjoy the challenge of a Villain Hunt in that you have no agency assistance; you are strictly on your own while doing a Villain Hunt. However, it costs way too much money to complete a Villain Hunt considering that the equipment that is your prize is worth only $48,000.00. It costs $5,000.00 to travel to Shangri La to begin a hunt, and $5,000.00 to retrieve your prize when it is completed; that's $10,000.00 right there. Say you are a Villain Hunt genius like Monsieur Squirrel and can finish your Villain Hunt in 3 days. Even at that, you lose 12 favors at $4,800.00 each for a total of $57,600.00. Add on top of that the amount of money you pay for bribes, let's say $250.00 per game average, for a total of $9,000.00, and you have a grand total of $76,600.00; and that's for a 3 day Villain Hunt. And the prize at the end is worth $48,000.00. That just doesn't seem right to me, somehow.

Now before everyone starts blasting me for being an ungrateful, whiney little so-and-so, let me repeat that I really enjoy playing Villain Hunts and I think it was a great idea, I just think the prize should be worth a little more considering the amount of money it costs to complete one.

And that's all I have to say about that. :)

(Sorry took me forever to find a mod to delete that so I could start again :p)

This is after you have all the VH gear you want, that makes it easier...

$5000 to travel to Shangri La.
I start my new hunt as soon as I finish my old hunt even if I'm not going to necessarily start my new hunt any time soon (like now for instance) So there's no double up fee.

Worse case scenario: Shangri La > London > Shanghai ($4000) > New York ($3000) > Delhi ($4000) = $11000

5 day hunt = 60 cases -12 cases for travel = 48.
Rough (over-estimated) cost per case $1000 = $48,000

so all up = $5000 + $11000 + $48000 = $64000

Now... Sold Gear = $48,000
And... 40 cases (allows for quits that still cost you money) x sold rewards $1000 (given you have pickpocketing) = $40000

So... $48,000 + $40,000 = $88,000

So... $88,000 - $64,000 = $24,000

You don't earn heaps, but you don't go broke. But I haven't done a favour forever. My bank balance is shite, but it's not that bad that I can't pay the rent.

I'm no maths whiz, so ^ s'prob. flawed. But it seems to equate to how I have (roughly) seen my bank balance go up and down over time.

So for a five (5) day Villain Hunt, in your scenario, one would earn $24,000.00. While for the same five (5) days, one could sit comfortably and safely at home or in their office at their agency and work 12 cases per day for $12,000 per day (12,000 x 5 = $60,000), plus one would work 20 favors during that time for $4,800 each (20 x 4,800 = $96,000) for a total five (5) day haul of $156,000. I would just expect, for risking life and limb, a little bit more than a $24,000 paycheck for a Villain Hunt. :)

However, as I said, they are good fun and a challenge, and I will continue to hunt those dastardly villains, only I guess it would be better to think of it as a community service than a money making venture. :)

lol :) Hey there, BadSindy, err SleuthAss... hmmm

:D Yeah I totally agree that you lose out against what you 'could' earn. I wasn't really commenting on 'effort for reward', just that you don't necessarily have to make a 'loss', and could survive on what you make. Sure you could have a trillion dollars in the bank but really, for what!? To say you have it? lol.

It does cost ALOT to do the Villain Hunts. Especially when you cant start another one right away because you have duties back at the agency to tend to. ALSO, lost cases for traveling. That is money lost as well since you are spending money to travel AND losing cases. I think the cost is too expensive. But I enjoy a good villain hunt now and then and I'm glad to hear the AVL is still alive and kicking. I'm hoping to be able to do a match soon.

Sure it costs alot to complete a VH and the value of the gear is usually$48,000, but what about the long term use of the gear that you get for it.

If you look at the pluses and minuses, I think it all works out.

This det has done a few VH's but prefers TH's. That's my choice though and is a great thing about this game. We have the choice to decide.

(One small comment to fan the flames of discontent here....;-)

I can't remember the last time I didn't pay at least $1000.00 a case in bribe money. I know I'm not the most brilliant of detectives out there, but I'm not the biggest slowtop on the block either. Traveling money is one thing. Most of my account gets blown on actual casework.

Have fun, y'all!! ;-D

Thats true, I wish the bibe money could be less, or one could earn more from AI cases. I'm only on my 3rd city, and have spent about 20000 on bribes and travel. :(

Surely they are expensive, and I prefer the usual items, both tough and charming.
If you consider that you can't participate in the agency life anymore...
Anyway I've done my choice here a long time ago...

In our agency we warn our detective to save some money before to start an AVH, just to not have to quit it because you can't bribe or travel anymore...

After you are free to open them or not :)
