Just to add... imagine you've found out someone has a fake alibi. You've got evidence of curly hair and male clothes. The suspect is a straight-haired woman. You can rule her out without having to ask any questions. If you'd found a hair but didn't know what sort it was, you couldn't rule her out without asking the barber.
As cases get harder and people clam more quickly, you need all the help you can get to stop you wasting questions.
