EDITORIAL: Agencies to Blame?

***This is my opinion. Strictly my opinion.***

I've looked at the community, and anyone who's been here longer than 100 days is able to see that Sleuth activity has gone down the tubes. Dead. And what is to blame? The agencies.

Now, agencies aren't the root cause. Let's get that straight. But the way they have been operating is. The problems with agencies are (1) the quantity, (2) the purpose, (3) and the role they play.

Okay, first, the quantity of agencies. Not too long ago, there were about 20-30 agencies. All full at 12 persons each, coming to a total of roughly 240-360 people. That was a good amount. But now, we have almost 120 agencies. That's right. 600% of the amount we had about a year ago. Sure, some may argue that the community has grown, and it certainly has. But 600% growth? I don't think so.

Laura, I'm glad you decided to post those thoughts! I've had a few of them myself, but I'm sure I couldn't get them out there that well.

I happen to know what a merkin is, for reasons that are nothing to do with Sleuth (details will not be forthcoming as I can't remember!), but I have felt like I've no idea what people are talking about, and I've no idea whether it's just US/Canadian pop culture references I don't get, or whether I've missed out on the vital chat room conversation.

I freely confess to irritation with message board users who don't appear to be paying attention to what's going on around them, and I know there are times when I've joined the sarky brigade, but I agree that, while it's human to sound off occasionally, it's not encouraging to non-brass-skinned people who might be innocently lurking. I think your point about the generation gap is very well made.

OK. I'm really really sorry I didn't see this a few days ago.

The only comment I have to make on this whole matter:

About 45 pages back crunchpatty virtually mooned al-Q and I would like to publicly announce my disdain at the visual of his hairy butt that is now branded onto my brain.

And I would also like to counter his statement that SMRT has no competition and won like 98 hunts in the past 3 days etc. etc.

If crunch had read the newspaper in the past week and seen the news, he may see that things have changed and that maybe, just maybe, a good strategy might be to let your competition think you've lost your mojo and then your competition gets lazy and then you come in with a vengeance and SMOKE them.

Errr.... yea... that's all I have to contribute... And errr... I think I'm trying to say there's still some competition out there between agencies...

That's right, Nic! I was so busy with addressing the topic that Jojo brought forth that I *totally* missed the moon. However, I must say that the al-Q trophy room is lookin' pretty good with all those trophies that we snatched out from under SMRT's butt...err, I mean noses! ;)

Dear Al-Q,

The only reason your agency has won hunts lately is because half of SMRT is on vacation, and the other half is on a brief hiatus. We'll be back in the swing of things shortly. Until then, enjoy your shiny treasure....while you can!

Sloppy wet kisses to all!

SMRT

(Now THERE'S a little competition! ;)

Dear Ara/SMRT-

While your wet kisses intrigue and excite me (although crunch's butt does not), put your money where your mouth (and wet kiss) is. Al-Q was too on a little hiatus until now. We're back baby. And we're ready for what you are going to bring.

See you at the finish line :)

Hugs,
Nic

OK. I didn't think the public boards were the place to air our dirty laundry (I thought there was some inherent confidentiality in this) .... but I didn't start it so I have to defend myself and also point out I am not the only one with an issue here.

My name is Nic. And I am an addict. OK. There I said it. I have an affinity for cheesesteaks, Captain Morgan, and Robitussin.

HOWEVER.... one of my colleagues at BF was crunchpatty who I can confidently say has more significant issues than I. His addiction is to Buckley's Cough Syrup. For those of you who have never been to Canada and/or tasted this concoction... It tastes like a mixture of pine needles and diarrhea. So relatively, my problem isn't so bad. An occasional moth infestation is all I have to deal with.

We should question the psyche of a person who not only could not taste this cough-crap once and not want to vomit on his shoe... but then subsequently become addicted to it. It just ain't right.

Donations to the crunchpatty "Get-Off-The-Buckleys-Fund" can be made to www.canucksintrouble.com.

Can I just say, and no offence meant to anybody, but some of you are living in the past. Instead of hankering after the people you have met, that have left for various reasons, why dont you start looking forward to the new friends you could make. Yes, these 'old' people brought alot of fun, quality and expertise to the game, but give us newcomers a chance and i'm sure we could to.

Re my posting as Amiss, I would like to also say a hugh thank you to Lady Ruby for going public and apologizing. That takes a big person in my view, (although I dont believe she was one of the people I personally received stick from). Also to Lady Jas and her kind words after my posting.

I look forward to meeting new people all the time, RL and sleuth, whilst remembering people of by gone days, and hope to meet many more.
