Bugged/Corrupted Case Files

Last week we ran a process to clean up old mystery record from the database to improve game performance. It appears that there was a bug in this process that caused some stored case files to be corrupted.

This primarily affected case files stored in apartments, but it appears to have damaged some agency files as well.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to recover the lost data at this point, without reverting game progress made over the last few days. I think the downside of doing that would not be worth a full rollback in this situation.

So, I'm sorry, but if you are unable to open or play some of your stored case files, I'm afraid you will have to quit those cases. I don't think there is a very good way to compensate for the lost files, but if you are concerned about the quits going on your record, send me a sleuthmail message, letting me know how many case files you were forced to quit due to this bug, and I'll remove those from your record.

We'll improve the cleanup process to better protect case file records before the next time we run it.

Thanks Ben. And I can certainly appreciate the better running speed - at least that's what I attribute it to, and I have no desires to be disillusioned.

I have no desire to take advantage of your generous offer to remove quit cases, however, I apparently have a couple dozen FA's that need to be eliminated from my record. Granted, they have nothing to do with the bugs, but I'd like them gone nonetheless.

How'd you get a couple dozen FA? Doesn't your detective get retired after 3?

I believe Ceres was attempting to be humorous. He is not always successful, which is why we at SMRT have him stationed in Shanghai for the foreseeable future, but he does try, poor man.
